EML and TC lights but running ok...

I had a faulty N75 and changed to a n75h (car is mapped to a J, and the H seems similar) about a week ago and it sorted my problems and car felt back to normal.

Yesterday morning I was accelerating hard in 4th and the boost cut out for a split second then carried on as normal. I carried on as normal to work and everything seemed fine.

After work I started her up and I had the TC and EML on, so I thought I'd do a quick ECU reset before I left to drive home. I only disconnected the battery for 5-10mins and did the TB alignment. I started up again and the TC light was on but no EML.

I drove for about 30 miles and the car seemed fine still. I stopped for petrol, and when I restarted the EML light came back on together with the TC light!

Like I say the car seems fine, I've check everything under the bonnet and all seems well. No funny smells or anything.

The only thing I've noticed is when I blip the thottle it seem to be hesitating slighty...

I thought maybe coils, but there's no smell and the car's running ok. Possibly sparks? but mine are reasonably new (ik22's)

any idea's lads??

after you reconnect the battery, turn the key to the 2nd ignition postion (ie not starting the engine), you will hear a buzzing noise coming from the TB. When it stops buzzing you're good to go.

That split-second jolt was your Maf failing.

 This doesn't do a tba. You can only do it with vag-com.

Thanks for the input...I thought if it was MAF it would've put me in limp mode and there'd be a dip in power?

Is that deffo true about the TBA? There's loads of threads on the site which suggest otherwise....

Right last night after work i went to a garage and mentioned TBA they link up a diagnostic machine (not vag com) and it read the ecu etc. then we selected throttle allignment but it offered three diffrent channels - ch90, ch60 & ch01 but we didn't go any further because we didn't no what they meant but we found the the throttle under no load was open 6.4% and when throttle pressed it read 96.1% i would have thought it should go from 0% - 100%? can anyone help?

I've finally got vag-com up and running so checked the fault codes and they both related to maf...maf signal too low and an abs fault code.

I tried to log my maf but the only readings that came from it were between 0.03-0.08 g/s

these readings seem too low to me and I guess I've done something wrong? I have only been using vag-com for all of 15mins!

Car is still running fine.

As I said previously, your MAF is knackered. That's why it's giving a negligible reading. (You're using Vag-Com correctly :) )

cheers, I know my maf must be fecked but other than the fault codes and warning lights everything seems ok. when my last maf went it ran like shite unless I unplugged the maf. if I unplug it now it seems the same..

I just wanted to see i was using vag-com right really as I thought if those logs were correct the car would run like a bag of spanners!

I even tried a new maf last week (non-bosch) and it was undriveable with it so I got a refund. I'll buy a proper one next week.

Psychic are you? ABS sensor will bring on both those lights and are common to go. Car is running 'fine' which may mean he could get away with cleaning the element in the MAF to get rid of the code. If changing the ABS sensor got rid of the lights then the he could drive it for abit to see if they come back on. Then again you have spent alot of money on MAFs havent you DPJ!

Yes, it surprising, it doesn't run like a bag of spanners with a completely goosed MAF. Not good long term for the car though.

It's satisfying when you fit a good maf, clear the codes and neither of the codes (MAF and ABS) come back.
