Flushed doors...

Have searched this and there is a few people who have done it but no-one has said how!

Basically I am debadging the whole boot, including the boot handle and this is easy enough with a boot popper and button in the dash.

But, if I wanted to smooth the doors and be able to open the doors from a remote fob, anyone know how this is done and the cost involved.

If i have missed something in previous threads please let me know.

The way i understand it the doors will be done similar to the boot, you will need a couple of cellanoids (sp) to pop the locks open via the remote ,the problem you will have is that if you do the doors and boot and the remote battery goes or the central locking fuse blows you wont be able to get in and the dead locks will be on.. not good.

I did this to a previous car and you have a button fitted somewhere like on the mirror that opens the door once u have opened the central locking with the remote.
The thing to do is have a cable routed somewhere like underneath the wheel arch that u can touch a battery to incase the battery goes dead.

well you have to get the solenoids fitted first, i know that clifford alarms have the functions to allow you to open each door from the fob individually. I had a 4 door car but only had it done so i could open the two front doors and boot from the remote, had to open rear doors from inside.
So get the solenoids fitted in the doors think it was about £35 per door, make sure they route a wire so you can connect a power source just in case, obviously make sure this wire is covered and not a bare wire touching other things.
Take your car to the bodyshop and makesure that they weld metal plates over the door handle recess, otherwise if they use fibreglass etc it will just start to crack with all of the door closing.
Only thing is you will have to have all of the doors resprayed which is the most expensive part.
I reckon all in with a decent job around £700 inc solenoids

oh ok, so you have the function to open the doors through a Clifford and then if this fails you can open the doors with a button on the wingmirror?

No mate, you can have it done through the alarm OR simply have a button put on the mirror

Seems like a lot of work but might be worth the effort as does look the dogs nuts.

just spoke to a company who can do this and they reckon £700. Dunno wot everyone else thinks but cant justify spending £700 on this...

its a lot of dosh just to have a button that opens the door without handles, i think its more hassle really, save the 700 spondoolies and buy a front mounted intercooler if u got a turbo instead, much better idea!

dont go using weedy central locking solenoids on it either

you need the proper heavy duty ones that are almost twice the size

sargey, yeh i have looked into that. im new to all this so just trying to learn things as I go along. what am i gona benefit from having a FMIC?

Fl@pper, yeh i heard about those dodgy solenoids on ebay! just gona scrap the idea...nice thought but just not worth the pennies!

well for a start improved turbo cooling which is a big bonus, better performance and with a remap much more power!!

dont give up just yet found these whilst looking at bearclaw latches optional springers too worth having clicky

see what i mean on the solenoids for example compare the effort involved in unlocking your car and opening the door from the inside

may not seem much but feel the difference in pressure required

yankee land is best place to find stuff like that especially with the exch rate lately but downside is delivery charges though but i have various locals to call upon if it gets too much of an issue

i get a few boxes of stuff (hotrod) sent over by a mate every 6 weeks or so - bought a 1930's Ford genuine steel grille shell last week for $20 that IF you could find here you'd be paying at least £300 for and the guy threw some headlamp shells in with it

love to do this all day for a living - i'd be rich

I have spoken to the people you suggested. Really helpful.

I dunno if you know about this sort of thing but maybe you can help? I think I would need the 4 door pop kit, 4 door poppers and emergency release kit. Does this sound about right to you?

Its also worth considering the fact that you may sell the car one day, and without door handles its going to put a lot of people off. But on the other hand would look pretty good and be a challenge. Not my cup of tea though. Good luck with it!
