Leon FR Cupra rear diffuser ?!?!?!?

Who has a Leon FR or Cupra & is wondering what to do with that big black ugly chunk of plastic on the back bumper, so called a touring car style diffuser? I was wondering what people have done with theirs, not looking for anything garish or chav like the BTCC bumper, your thoughts & pics

Indeed I do like the design, but the plastic just looks cheap, its more the quality / finish of the item rather than the design. Most modern cars have a small diffuser of one sort or another on the rear bumper, take a look at teh Civic or new Panda for example, the though and quality of the material is much better. Shame as the rest of the car is real good.

Can't honestly say I have paid such close attention to it, but I am an OEM man. If you start adding bits and bobs to your cars bodywork, you end up with something like this!

Again I nearly agree fully with you. I do like a little personal touch, but so slight that people know something is different but cant always work out what has changed. Im thinking here, subtle, to bring the quality in line with the rest of the car. And to confirm, you would have to sedate me heavily to get me in that Leon

Thats down to personal opinion unfortunately, but that argument has already taken place on another thread, you either love or hate the BTCC kit. I suppose im getting older now & that sort of look went along with the boot full of amps and speakers, obviously showing my age, I think it attracts too much unwanted attention both in car parks and on the road, you know when some slammed Nova bobbing around because its too low & hard trying to make you go faster. I used to enjoy it, but quite frankly, I prefer to put my foot down now when I want to in my own safety.

Well apart from this chap, it seems most have left alone, I think im too picky to detail, although, painted nice shiny black, this would look a league above the cheap plastic finish currently on offer. It should have been painted black from standard as the basic Leon bumper is painted all over, just give a nicer finish, Thanks all for your input, anyone has any further ideas, keep posting

you have a black car, so it looks nice, but I have candy cupra, carbon fibre sounds great, but who will do that

I must admit it does look cheap, even started fading a bit on mine, so need to put half a can of back to black on it...

I agree with keeping things standard so won't be changing it.

If any of you have Zymol/Dodo car waxes like the ones below for example, then apply it to the plastics for a great water tight look.

I have been thinking of some carbon finish, still keep it dark, but tidy it up. Was tempted to get some carbon finish sign writer vinyl & give it a go, but its not really that flat, unless you stop at the second curve, just above the exhaust, but I think you would still need to cut on the curve above, could look messy, this was my original reason for this post, to see if anyone had done anything that was cost effective but also visually effective, but not CHAV !!!

You can warm it with a hairdrier to go round curves ... If it looked cack you could easily take it off again .. Go for it, then put up some pics, I am interested in seeing it as well ..

Na, the cherry bomb definately a step too far As far as the carbon film on the plastic, what we are trying to achieve is a neat tidy look improving the quality of the look discreetly , without looking 'aftermarket' as the plastic finish is really quite cheap, I dont think anyone has tried it yet, and it may or may not look any good, I cant comment either way as I havnt seen it to be judgmental on.

I think I will be painting ours even though its a black car. Mainly for the reason above that black plastic fades over a period of time and the section on the back bumper and below the windscreen are large and could look terrible without constant cleaning/attention.
