Hi,

Booked in for a CC remap tomorrow, cannot wait. !!!

My insurance is nearly up anyway and was wondering if i should tell them about it, if i have a smash i can hardly see them checking the ECU . Just getting the general opinion as I would normally tell the insurance co. about any mods.

If i should tell them who is the best insurance company to go with that doesn't mind mods too much ?

Cheers

It's totally up to you. I must agree with you that there is no way the insurance would ever find out - I work in a body shop and the engineers never drive the car or plug in a VAG COM or anything to check the ECU. I'm pretty sure it's fair to say you could get away with it. But at the end of the day it's your choice. Your car - your insurance policy. :)

I wouldnt risk not telling the insurance company.. just isnt worth it imo

As above though check out greenlight as they do some cracking quotes and wont charge much extra for mods!!

I've just renewed the insurance on both cars and always declare any mods. It only added £40 to the Cupra's insurance with 2 drivers on it with Admiral. Takes away any possibility of problems should anything happen.

put it liek this, one of the guys on the mini site had a smash, he had changed from the run flast tyres to normal tyres, Directline tried to get out of paying him. they only backed down when he had a letter from BMW to tell them that Mini's can be fitted with non-runflats and its not a requirment of the car to have run-flats,

Also you posted it up on a public forum, i assume you assume that insurance comapnies don't read em ( up yours churchill if your reading this.....lo)

Ive had 2 mark 4 beezas custom coded. Never had any clutch problems. (FR TDI and 1.9TDI Sport)
I didnt tell insurance compnay about either and erm Beeza the 1st went to car heaven and I didnt get the chance to turn CC off grr. But nothing was noticed. neither did they notice the bigger beraks, bigger air box and stuff either.

But i guess it depends on the circumstances. Like if I had killed another car as well then they might have wanted to check mine more thoroughly. I dont know.

Enjoy the remap its worth every penny!
