Im fully comp, but there is no point informing insurers?

????? i would strongly recommend your inform your insurers, even if its for information purposes only.

Whats to say that the person you ran into, gets home, and suddenly he gets a pain in his neck, off he trots to hospital, then off he trots to the solicitors, then three months down the line YOU receive a letter from the Solicitor. What do you do ? you ask your Insurers to help, what do they say ? ..........

Might be different at most breakers but closest one to me said they don't take parts like that off newer cars..they'd only sell whole bumper etc to make it worth their while.

ah my local says if you take it off theyl sell it to you!

I agree, make a note of the time/date it happened, the details of the other car, and how many occupants etc were in it. Keep a copy for your own reference in case you need to remember at a later date, and tell your insurers all the details.

It's not unheard of for people to stop like this deliberately to catch you out, then submit insurance claims for whiplash injuries...often lying to say there were more passengers in the car than there really were just to get more payouts. You never know.

its not really fair to blame the person in front for stopping even if they stopped for no reason.

thats the whole point of stopping distances, if you leave enough space between you and the car in front you wont run into the back of them.

just my opinion of course.

I think sometimes it is. Like today i was following someone who indicated a right turn so left stopping distance. guy started turning right then stopped despite it being completely clear so nearly found a red beezer in the back of him. Just managed to swing a left and avoid him hehe. And then you get people who pull out of a junction and then go really really slow!! grrrrr :censored:

yer or people who overtake you and cut in at the last second, reducing your stopping distance so you really have 2 hammer the brakes
