Front fog warning Light ?

I'm sure I'll get a quick answer on this (its raining outside - well more of a hurricane and cant be bothered to go to the car), but on the main instrument cluster in an 05 Cupra R, is there a front fog warning light ?
Reason I ask is that if you pull the light unit to turn em on, nothing appears, but when you put the rear fogs on a light come on in the clocks. Cant remember if it should have one or not fro the fronts as well?And if it should is it a pig of a job to do (cars just gone thru the main dealer for an MOT and they didnt pick this up if it isnt working, but picked up it needed a set of discs and blooming pads though )

No doubt it saved a few quid along the lines for the bean counters at SEAT though

There is one but not on the main dash it is on the left of the light switch, you cant see it when driving as the steering wheel is in the way, it lights up green ( well it does on mine).

Same as mine then - u need to lean over to the left to see the "ickle" green light glowing to itself.

Good in one way that i havent got a bulb gone, but bad in another way that SEAT didn't include the warning light in the main dash binnacle.

It's so that the chavs don't have to put up with an extra light while they cruise around town at 10mph Wish car makers would swap the fogs around so one pull is rears, and a second pull is fronts. That would probably stop the little goits driving round with fogs on as they'd be gutted at looking so uncool, having to have their rear fogs on as well (although no doubt they'd just swap them back or remove the rear foglight bulbs or something )

Totally agree with that! people who drive around with front fogs on in good weather are a right royal pain in the arse. but the reason that front fogs are usable with 'one pull' as you say, is that if you check the switch you will find that you can turn the fogs on with the 'one pull' in the side lights position. so that in dense fog when your headlamps make the fog glare so you cant see anything but white,you can turn your headlamps off but leave the fogs on which light up the road under the fog allowing you to see abit more by reduceing the glare and carry on at a reduced speed. try it next time its foggy.... it really works!

but your rear fogs are not on... the fog has to be pretty bad for front fogs to give any benefit so not having the rear on would be foolish.

so, why have the first pull position? if you need front fogs you needed rears as well. so why not have them both come on.

its for chavs and posers, thats what the option is for.

i dont no ask a car designer! but thats the correct way to use front fogs..... without dip beam to reduce glare.

the octavia has front and rear on the dash. front has a forward facing dipped symbol and lvel facing for the rears.there's no way you can forget you have them on either,they light up the dash as much as the road.

Front Fog lights are not tested for MOT anywhere you go.so dealer wont of tired them

People driving around with fogs on in clear weather (especially at night) pisses me off too. I wish the police would pull these people as it's a safety hazard for oncoming drivers. Maybe the manufacturers could fit some kind of visibility sensor which disables fog lights until a certain level of poor visibility.


I'm all in favour of having one position fogs too, ie turn on both rear and front. Its arguable that it's more important to "be seen" than to be able "to see" in bad weather, but it amazes me just how many people dont turn on side lights or dipped headlights in poor weather conditions. They think just because they can see out the window they don't need to, what they don't realise is that even sides make your car far more visible in grey rainy conditions, (especially these days with the popularity of grey/silver cars), and most accidents in bad weather conditions happen due to not seeing other drivers rather than not being able to see the road ahead, (the vast majority of single car accidents happen in the dry due to speed in excess of the drivers/cars abilities).

im no chav but if you sore me you'd think i was as my front fogs are stuck on you can pull the switch to put the back on but push it all the way and it only moves once and i got collered by the police put they couldnt do out because i was pulled up on my drive when they saw them but there gona be looking now and dont want a £30 fine.

havent had chance to look but if i took it all out does the switch come apart for me to rectify this
