So U can get teardrop style covers without replacing the mirror?? were they easy to fit?? and if u could find a part number that wud b gud :funk:

just to clarify you cant just buy new teardrop covers to convert from square to teardrop.
its more involved than that:
you have to change the whole unit as the base is a different design.

see next post for details!

Posting again as I've just recieved a few pm's from other SCN members asking for details on the swap from the older style Leon mirrors to the newer teardrop style and also prices.

To remove a mirror unit.

Remove the inner door pannel and disconnect all wiring clips.
Remove the inner mirror cover and adjuster knob (if manual type)
Remove the foam insert.
Unclip the mirror adjuster cable and remove the plastic surround (3 clips)
The mirror is held on by a large torx screw/bolt. Undo while supporting the mirror.
Gently pull the mirror off the car.

All the fittings can be used on the teardrop mirrors.

Cost of new teardrop mirror bases £98+vat each
Cost of new teardrop mirror glass £28+vat each

Choice of mirror covers available:

Cost of new teardrop primed mirror covers £6+vat each (painting to match your car is an additional £75+vat depending on the SEAT dealer)
Cost of new teardrop FR style Matt Silver covers £15 inc vat pair.
Cost of new teardrop silver/chrome mirror covers £40+vat pair

I've been looking at this mod for a bit. Also prompted by a colleague at work who was pondering why the FR has silver mirrors and the LCR not. He said it looks good and recommended I try and get some, and I tend to agree.

What is everyones opinion on chrome mirrors on a red LCR out of interest??

Hi Guy's, might sound like a pain in the arse but will give it a try, im looking to get a set of the later tear drop mirror covers, however i dont want the chrome ones, i want the matt silver that comes as standard on leon fr i think, well its the ones that look metal, can anyone guide me into where to buy/look for them, and how much for? Plus any opinions? they are going to go on my black leon sx 2004, also thinking of putting on a honeycomb grill, however not sure if i can do it myself.. Thanks Alex

If you ring Seat main Dealers, ask for the covers for the Ibiza cupra.

The Ibiza Cupra tear drops and the Leon Cupra R one's are the same and they both cost around £15 - £20.

Mine isnt a cupra, its a SX but i have got the tear drop mirrors, i think well they dont look like the square ones to me, i will try and give seat dealers a ring tomorow frst thing and see what they say, maybe its better to ask for leon fr mirrors, or are they all the same?

Thanks, will try once i have picked them up from seat, i know this is probably the wrong place to ask, but i have also ordered a honeycomb grill, does anyone have any guidence to how to remove the front bumper on a 2004 leon sx, as i believe it has to be removed in order to take the old grill on and fit the new one in?
