You're going to need a new map, etc to go with the turbo so it's not as cheap as it looks.

So without a map on a standard 130pd engine it will increase it to around 195bhp? Then a remap would see over 200? Thats very nice gains but suppose it's abit of money.

Why not just remap and leave the uprated turbo out. I have just had my pd150 remapped to 185 and it just spins the wheels in the dry in second from 1500 rpm. The car cant be that much quicker to 60 than before as I can get any traction! plus you are going to eat tyres too!
Not trying to put you off though!

wel yeah i suppose but the remaps like £400 from revo, so for like £950 (for £550 turbo & remap) you could easily excess over 220bhp surely? and if the cupra R manages it with traction surely there must be a way to stop tdi losein traction if urs does at 185?

Look at the spec of my car... If you want to enjoy the 220BHP then you have to think about spending alot more money - brakes, suspension, clutch, FMIC, exhaust, ARBs, BMC CDA, and decent tyres for a start. That's the other reason why remaps are so cheap - they will work well with your original equipment, so you don't have to spend the extra cash.

My advice would be to go the whole hog, but just be aware of the extra money involved. In the long run you could well tire of 'just' 185BHP, and had you waited the money could have gone into a bigger turbo! ;o)

Incidentally, my understanding is that Allard's VT1 is effectively a PD150 turbo - £550 exchange is a good price tho. The inlet manifold likewise is a PD150 item.

As far as traction in big TDI powered 2WD cars is concerned, it's a matter of adapting your driving style to suit the conditions, not just hammering down the right foot, and expecting the tyres to work some kinda black magic! ;o)

Cheers,

T

Yeah thats helpfull and i knwo what u mean about plantin your foot, the turbo wud be more powefull so u cud kinda compensate perhaps not plantin your foot so early on to gain all the power and speed through 2nd,3rd,4th ect? must still push laods wen runnin that high. Also i looked at koni suspention at £500 and exhaust at like £700...ye the moneys gunner be needed :) and brakes....could you just get liek grooved and drilled disks with 'green stuff' pads or sumit liek that...braking should be a lot better just with that?

sp tuning for the remap Jamie has done two for me now. He will come to you if the distance is acceptable (no extra charge I think)
Gavin I know where you are coming from I know you were not being offensive.
For the record sp tuning will take my car to 210 bhp if I want to but my car is my work tool and does 500/700 miles a week its on 114k now so i decided around 180 is enough.

Got Will @ P-Torque at Wolverhampton to do my 1.9TDI.

£225 Christmas/New Year special offer. Well worth it, just a shame the roads are in such a mucky crap condition I still can't realy test it out.

No, that turbo upgrade with a remap will make you hit about 195bhp. Just the same as a remapped PD150.

You're probably looking at something like this to hit 220bhp:
