Thought I would share some of what I have been doing to my 1.9 TDI 110 Leon. Engine has done 106k, so nicely run in!!
The first mod was to fit a tuning box, which I got from Abrieb Chiptuning in Germany for @ 80 €!! Gave a fantastic improvement over stock. Put it this way, I gave a Volvo D5 a run for it's money! But gave a good smoke screen as well :lol:.

So I have now also fitted a DieselPower® TPC turbo pressure controller from JS performance in Canada (good exchange rate;) ) I've only got it on setting 1 at the mo, which gives a steady state boost pressure of 16-17psi. I now have less smoke, and a bit more mid and high end grunt...lovely.
Estimated power is 143hp, but I need to get it on the local dyno (Castle Combe) for proper test.

3rd mod is an oil catch tank. When I took off the lower turbo pipe off the intercooler there was quite a bit of oil which I imagine has been sucked through from the rocker-cover breather, so I have fitted a catch tank and pipework, but it's no vented to outside....

Next mod will either be a set of 17" or 18" alloys, preferably LCR type, or an Allard cooler:D.

just to let you know mate, you will not be runnig that power with just a tuning box, look at my signature and my power gains and thats from a proper remap

Oh yes, also does anyone know what the safe boost pressure is for the VNT15 on th e110 TDI?

You want to be looking for 1.2 bar really. 1.3 at a push but not all over of course.

You will notice a massive difference wth a map rather than the tuning boxes :)

The last one i tuned made 160hp and 275lbft with only software and decat :)

The tuning box I have (Abrieb) says a minimum of 20% power gain. So by increasing the boost pressure as well I will not be getting much more than 132hp?

I thought as the tuning box increased fuel delivery, and more smoke as well, by increasing the boost pressure I would turn some of that smoke into power. I have noticed a slight increase in power having done that (1.2bar on overboost). I know a remap is the way to go, but I don't have that cash for that at the mo.

Mine is the GT TDI 110 that RS Tuning speak of. It has simply a decat, panel filter - and a tune.

RS Tuning spent a lot of time on it; but 160bhp and 275lbft is not to be sniffed at! Worth every penny in my opinion!

I like the sound of that! Mine is the SE TDI 110, its done 109k but still runs very well. Got a bit of a oil leek at the mo, which I think is coming from the crank shaft seal - clutch end, but need to get underneath for a proper look.
I didn't think the 110 could get up to that sort of power without installing larger injectors.

Mine also had 143bhp on the bench with a 10 cent tuning box and 1.2 bar boost..

Spiked terribley.. but is was a temp solution.. now I have 220bhp with the vnt20 etc;)

i got a small leak, think similar to you, i was told by gearbox place that it was engine ring main seal, something like that and then i got people telling me its the crank shaft seal, im having my clutch changed at the same time so can these be done at the same time and will these be easy for the garage to do lol

I have fixed the leek myself! I traced it back to the crank oil seal on the cam belt end. I had the seal originally done by a garage but they made a complete mess of it, so I did it myself! Took about a day to do in total as I had to make some tools to hold the crankshaft and insert the new oil seal, but now its all done there are no leeks what so ever.

If you are sure its coming from the clutch end, the garage will soon know if it is, as there will be a trace of oil inside the clutch housing. The oil seal at the clutch end is quite a large item and costs a bit too. I got a genuine crank seal for the cam belt end from a main dealer for £12. I think the oil seal at the other end is about £30ish.

With a few minor mods is very reliable..

Lower the CR by modifieng the pisotn bowl, use a block grindle (eurospec.com), and good oil cooler..

Broke the crank! Holy:censored: I would have though that would be the last thing to go. Rods are the weekest link I thought...

Bigger injectors would be needed to get 160hp on a 110, they will max out at 140ish as standard.
