so there's a quite a bit more to it than just the battery? whats that to the right bill? and also what would you do with the fuses that are on top of the battery?

Mine is already tucked out the way (as you can see in this pic),

Doing the battery shouldn't be difficult, I've ordered an alloy battery tray which can be drilled and bolted to the boot floor, will use some JB Weld on it too to make sure it's secured well. The hold-down is part of the tray so it will be exactly what I need.

I've ordered 5m of red 4AWG and 1m of black 4AWG cable, terminals and the tray already. Once new year hols are out the way next week I'll get on with it!

As Bill said, it's all about weight distribution plus more room in the bay to fit a proper un-obstructed air filter setup at the front of the bay.

I plan to use the spare wheel well yes.

thing with the wheel well is that it is right at the back of the car - you are better off with the weight as low as possible but as central as possible, reduces polar moment of inertia of car and makes it more forgiving (best setup is all weight within the wheel centers) - my (lightweight) battery is in the middle of the car lust behind the front seats

ah yeah maybe right there.

even so this looks like an in depth project all the same, so when you have put your wires from the front to the back do you simply tap off them at the front to run those fuses that go on top of your battery?

I agree but in a road car behind the seats is not an option, the front of the spare wheel well is the best place for it, the weight is over the rear beam (near enough), a battery is lighter than a spare wheel and tyre anyway.

My power kit arrived this morning (cables, terminals etc.) so at least I can run the power cable through the car now.

Power kit cost £16, alloy tray is £28, 2 battery terminals were £5.50 - all from eBay.

good point Rob.. mines sat there in the wheel well as thats rearward (for weight distribution, 20VT is nose heavy)
will be interesting to see how mine corner weights once its fully caged and rewired again...
