Hi all,
I was looking through the records for my car the other day and realised that I hadn't changed the diesel filter for over 30k.
As I think it should be done at 20k (anyone confirm ?) I thought I had better change it.
So, GSF in Coventry, and twenty quid later I had a diesel filter..
Easy enough to remove, just two pipes with the usual clips and a pressure valve thingy connected to a couple more pipes which popped out the top.
I refitted the new filter, fitted the new 'O' rings on the presure valve thingy, but thought it best to refill with new diesel before connecting it up.
This I did, untill no more bubbles were seen coming to the top, then I reconnected everything.
Problem was, couldn't start the car afterwards, as air bubbles could be seen in the transparent pipe.
Finally got it fired up after about 3 minutes of continuous cranking, which felt really wrong.
Poor old starter motor, I hope it didn't suffer at all !!
So, my qusetion is, what did I do wrong, was this normal, and is there anything else I could of done to save all the cranking ?
Ta.
