Insurance.

Warning to all you folks with mods on your car and think you will get like for like, LOL

No way Jose unless you have an agreed valuation which costs about £20.

I have experience that even if you do declare it all and keep receipts unless you have your agreed valuation you might as well not bother declaring it. Because you won't be paid out for it. Insurance companies will pay bottom $ come accident time ;)

24 here, 2years NCB and 1 claim with 4 years and i paid about 400 fully comp for my 1.4

i should be able to get a 16v or a mk3 cupra for 500quid ish fully comp next year i hope;)

Reading that post my insurance quote sounds about right.

I thought id be safer declaring what i have. I dont want to run the risk of crashing and my insurance becoming void because i insured my car as standard and if that happened i could afford to pay everything out my own pocket.

All my mates said 'dont bother declaring your mods they will never know'. I said what if i crash and my insurance is void, id have to pay everything myself. Soon got them thinking.

I passed in April, just got a 1.4 ibiza 1999, im 18 and its gunna cost me about £1500 to insure

Anyone know if i can get it cheaper anywhere else?

You might, but thats what i was paying for my 1.4 when i first got it. Passed in May 05, got the ibiza in jan 06 at 18 and was around £1500. Cant remember exact figure.

Stick with it, as soon as you get 1 year no claims it more than halves, well mine did!!

i have no idea how much it would be for you but for me i went with a broker called allen and allen i had 0Yrs NCB, 1 years driving experiance, i was 19 and i had done a pass plus. cost me £800 TPFT.

now i have 2yrs NCB, 21 and im fully comp on £700. still quite a bit...

i would expect for your age you should pay no more than £1200, and even then thats quite a bit!

there is nothing like searching about to find the best deal, dont do mods etc and dont forget to play insurance companies against each other to get the cheapest quote.

dont do this unless your stupid. tell your insurance everything that you have done to your car.. i have listed all my mods and it put my insurance up £50... whoop dee doo.

dont get caught out and be a mug crashing your car then find out your insurance is invalid because you 'forgot' to mention your mods.

I didnt want to get caught out so i told my insurance. A few of my mates said 'Whats the point declaring all your mods, only puts your insurance up and they wont know about them.' But i didnt want to take the risk of not telling them, then crashing my car and the insurance company sending someone out to look at then saying 'Im sorry, your insurance isn't valid as you didn't tell us about this, that etc'.

I couldnt afford to crash my car and have my insurance made void and having to pay out anything third party out my own back pocket!
