What caliper carrier needed??

What carriers do I need to fit a set of willwood 4 pots to a mk3 ibiza???

I have come a cross a set that I can get cheaply but not sure what else I will need??

The car is a 1.4 is that helps.

you need a lot more than the carriers.

i have looked in to this a fair bit and it seems that us 1.4ers need a whole new hub, bearings, callipers, carriers, and if your going for big brakes a new master brake cylinder.


i highly doubt you would ever need willwood 4 pots to stop a car that can just about reach 105mph.

try and find a 280mm brake conversion as these suit the weight of our car and stop well. (this is the setup im looking for)

i have a set of carriers and bolts in the for sale section which fit wilwood dynalite 4 pot calipers.

i bought these with the intention of upgrgding to wilwood but got the Brembo 4 pot kit instead.

If theyre the same hubs etc.. as the cupra this will work...

the link is no workies as you need to sign up...

second.. the hubs on a 1.4 are a 1 peice design (BAD SEAT, BAD SEAT!!!!!)
the hubs on a cupra are a 2 peice design. this enables the calipers and carriers to be changed with the original hubs..

on the 1.4 we have a single hub / carrier.. it is all as one mould so it is impossible to change the carriers.... well i say impossible but anything can be done with enough money)

Why do I need new hubs and bearings to fit willwoods??

can you not get discs that will fit the hubs???

I know. But whether the hub and lug spacing/position is the same size as the cupra is another thing.

If it is, you buy standard 280mm cupra discs, those brackets and the dynalite calipers. Simple.

Ok, looks like I will need to find out wheather the hug and lug position spacing is the same on the cupras as my car.

Anyone know how I can check??

let me say this nice and simple because i guess im not putting this accross right....

on a 1.4:

THE hubs AND carriers are ONE PEICE. there is no bolts holding the carriers on as the carriers are part of the hub.
The calipers are rubbish
the brakes are NOT 280mm!!!!

on a 1.8t:

The hubs and carriers can be separated (they are two peices. the carrier can be unbolted from the hub.)
the brakes are 280mm


to be able to put wilwood 4 pots on a 1.4 you will need to do the following:

1) Ditch your current 1.4 hubs and get a set of cupra hubs (YES THEY ARE DIFFERENT)
2) Get the necassary callipers / carriers and ensure the spacing is correct.
3) buy the correct new size of disks and pads.

Right, thanks for clarifying that for me, did not know that they were all one piece.

Did know that the 1.4 brakes were not 280mm though, thats whats what I wanted to upgrade to.

I thought you had a cupra anyway.

nope its obvious its a 1.4 due to the front bumper and rear bumper. yes they are colour coded but so are his bump strips meaning that its a 1.4 .

anyway, i know the 1.4 does not have 280mm brakes because i also own a 1.4 and i am looking in to doing this upgrade after christmas when funds allow me to.
and i know the 1.4 hubs / carriers are a 1 peice because i stuck me head under my car last night and had a good poke around to see, and sure enough... its a 1 peice jobby.

if you are finding it hard to get cupra hubs, the VW G60 shares the same front brakes as the cupra so they are also an option.
