I was going to go with CIS cos they were my old insurer, but wouldnt insure my Gti 16v,
However they would insure me on a cupra 16v....

When I asked why, they said they are different cars and that the GTi was on theyre list of 'adult cars'...

common to get perished fuel lines on ABF's when they get older so if it smells like neat fuel then it could be that or a vacume hose with a hole in it.

Either way very easy and cheap to repair. At least the guys being honest with you. If its tappety it could just need an engine flush and an oil change. OR it could just be a seller whose not too familliar with the noisy 16v engine.
