Sorry I wasn’t implying you had removed your dv and blanked off the holes. Just that it sounds like yours isn’t opening properly and is causing the same problem. The noise isn’t coming from the filter; you can just hear it through the filter. Probably just a split hose, but you won’t know till you get it looked at.

I have been following this thread from the start now, and yesterday found out I am experiencing the same problem. I have a forge SplitR fitted, however there is absolutely no sound coming from the DV but only the open air filter (cone). At first I thought I would just have to set the spring of the DV at a different strength (with the splitR you can move the top piston 58 clicks either opening it completely or closing it) however, this still made no difference. I tried it completely open, and then completely closed and nothing changed. Someone else here said that it might be the vacuum hoses, however I have changed these all last week to silicone hoses. Now I am almost getting the idea like I mounted the DV wrong (however it seems highly unlikely to me).
Who can help me, because it cannot be that a 1.8VT engine makes absolutely no sound through a mounted forge DV. Again there is only sound comming from airfilter....

thanks

Ok I just mounted it the other way around and now the valve which releases is facing the firewall towards the driver. Now it is releasing sound, however still not when pressing gas in neutral. I thought that valve is supposed to give off (or dump) air whenever hitting certain amount of rev?
Furthermore I would like to post pics however I have no clue how....

Then there is ofcourse the question of how to set the SplitR...there are 58 clicks, either opening or closing it, and I donnot know on which to set it...

Please someone help because I am getting tired of this valve lol :D

thanx

My Split R was facing the driver also when fitted so sounds like its hooked up correctly now. You should set your Split R up to 16 clicks to start with an then fine tune it if need be

You wont get the sound in neutral as there is no boost, it will only come in gear because you are hitting boost mate.

in neutral you wont create the same load as you would do driving, so you wont see full boost

you can raise boost by constantly revving the **** out of the car but not like you will driving

I will get a 'slight' whoosh in neutral but the proper whoosh only comes when in gear and driving, then it is really noticable.

I get my FMIC and cold side relocation kit fitted tommorow so it will be intresting to to see what my splitr sounds like when thats done.

Your split r will probably need some fiddling with to get it set up correctly dan. I found it was totally diferent once i relocated it

I am getting forge to look at my split r as the only noise it makes is a chatter. Its chatter or silent so im gonna get their opinion and see what they think.

Hopefully it should be sorted and sound sweet.

Yeh makes sence to get it loked at mate and im sure they'l sort it straight away lol. They sound nice once working properly

Yeah they sound great, I heard one on another Ibiza and it was just like a BOV. I dont understand why mine doesnt do that. Ive tried every click and tried it fitted both ways and its chatter or nothing at all:shrug:

Im sure forge will sort it for me, they have always been helpful and its them whos fitting the intercooler and cold side kit.

I like the sound of these turbosmart bov's but as nobodys run one for ages I dont know what the effects will be on a 1.8 T
