Had remap but doesn't feel like it

I need some advice. I got my car (Audi a3 1.9tdi quattro) remapped on the weekend. Apparently the original power was 138bhp i wasn't quoted the torque figure. Well once they'd finished remapping they suggested I take it for a drive, so I did and couldn't really tell the difference.

I asked how much bhp and torque and they gave me a print off showing 178.4bhp and 238 lbs torque. He said something about the torque figure being lower because the quattro system affects this figure apparently -40lbs?. I think it was ran in front wheel drive only (stored communication error in vag com).

They said it might take some of the journey home for the learn in values to be stored before I got the most out of it. However over the 170 miles back I didn't notice any improvements.

I did some logging today with Specified vs actual boost and the figures are very similar to the pre-remap log I did. Looking at the graphs the pre-remap had a peak of 2400 mbar and post remap approx 2350.

Is there anyone else who has had their 130pd remapped
lately so I can compare boost logs. Or if there is another group to log so I can check?

Does sound worrying indeed. You should get quite a big performance increase from 30-40 bhp.

The torque figure that they have quoted you is standard for the 130pd, you should be getting near 300lbft and the 4 wheel drive system shouldn't effect that figure, however the bhp figure at the wheel will be less due to additional drivetrain losses in the 4 wheel drive system.

So from the figures he has quoted you I am not suprised you don't feel a difference as the torque is very low for a remap.

either that or theres something wrong with your car....if it was putting out 164bhp in Feb...to be RR'd again standard and putting out 136 thats quite a difference although the dyno lottery doesnt help!

trucido thats right. I even took along my dyno run from that day to be told that it was impossible for a std 130 to make those figures. "The mistake they made was it was run in gear" ?? "But the torque figure is right" I said that it was a bit high but car drives well for a std car. I put that down to the shorter gearbox in the quattro. Oh and the millers and dielectric grease cage mod, freshly vacumed paper filter.

Dont want to name the tuner just yet. Apparently I had a stage 4 map and if I wanted more I could have this at the expense of fuel economy.

Whilst there I asked about what different variables could be changed in the "custom remap" the only reply was "theres lots of things".

Does anyone have their vag com logs to hand?

Also is there anyone around Tunbridge Wells who can give a second opinion?

No definately not an ebay special. According to the reviews someone who is well recommended.

To be fair to him and his company he did offer changes to the map FOC. I think I'll give him a call tomorrow to discuss.

I should hope so mate. If there has been no change in performance then something should be done.

If you drove 170 miles back and couldn't notice i'd be weary of this map.

What mods do you have as you say its a stage 4 map?

I'm running a generic map (stage 1) look in my sig for figures.
