As i'm getting some money up together for a k03s conversion i keep coming across people saying they wish they'd gone bigger straight away. As i havnt actually bought any parts yet i was wondering if maybe a ko4 would be the way to go.

Anybody whos running ko3s wish they'd gone ko4? I'm guessing ko4 would mean a different downpipe and manifold etc.

The most i would want out of it is around 250 - 275bhp but would also be happy with a 230 - 240bhp ko3s setup.

Is ko4 worth the extra hassel/money?

I had a K03s (still have) stg2 Ibiza Cupra... and 6 months ago bought an IHI'd Ibiza.

IHI clearly alot quicker, but the K03s spools quicker, and pulls away initially... you could go for a K03s with water injection, would be between 230-240 dependant on map...

Both cars are fun to drive, and even going back to the K03s from the IHI, the K03s doesn't feel slow, the opposite infact due to the quicker spooling...

Hmm, maybe ko3s would suit me better then. Been in Olly20vt's ko3s plenty of times and does feel very drivable. Reliabilty and low maintenance is the key factor i guess as i much prefer driving the car everyday rather than it being sat on the drive awaiting mending ect.

The KO4 involves a lot more work as is a lot more expensive...all you need for a ko3s is the turbo, some seals, a intercooler and a nice map. Or you could go for a KO3 with KO4 internals from JBS or something similar?

Thats what i wasnt sure of tbh, how much extra work it is. But if its much extrat then i'll be sticking with ko3s.

go bigger! ive had k03s for a while now and tbh mate it didnt make enough difference to the k03 stage 1 spike (with revo), just with an intercooler keeps it pulling to redline.
I would definately have gone bigger.

edited to say if you want it to be noticeably quicker get as much done at once as poss or you'll get used to the end result before you have it all

Yeah Ollys made 252bhp on stealths. But SteveGTI's made 249bhp on Jabbas rollers with similar mods and Jabba mapping. Maybe 250bhp is acheiveable, whats Jabbas rollers like?

yeah, but nick s that used to be on here got 256bhp from jabba and his turbo went bang. it is achieveable but best not to push it, 240-245 with water injection if going k03s is best imo

Well that said then, i'm quite happy with the way Ollys drives, regardless of bhp although he is running Custom Code wich may yield better results than Revo2? and hes been k03s for well over a year now i think with no problems.

As k04 is quite a bit more hassel maybe i should stick with k03s or k03s/k04 hybrid.

Just had mine RR'd K03's plus all the usual extras. Oh it spun on the rollers so the torque figure is low.

i'm on k03s and all the work appart from the map was done by myself. with help from a mate, who's ramp i borrowed! was easy enough to do everything myself.

i'm running custom code phase 2, and i'm going to jbs on friday to have a power run, the last one i had was at awesome and it put 281 lb/ft torque with 212 bhp @ the WHEELS!

If it span on the rollers you'd have more power/torque where the wheelspin occurred..... so are the figures less, or are you confused?
