The quadlock should be a proverbial p.o.p to disconnect.. that tab above the blue bit does look about right.. there's no force or trick to it just squeez the tab up i think and it free's.

I don't know if the harness is interchangeable.. The connector to the ipod is removable like a mini din of some sort but i suspect the HU Harness is soldered onto the board?

I think what you have (the red plug) is a mini iso (joined together into one socket) and what you need is the quadlock equivelant.. So if you get such a thing.. a "Mini ISO to Quadlock" converter. I suppose you could cut and shut the wires if worst came to worst.

I found the blue one easy to get out?

looks to me its the tab at the bottom to have to squeeze, you can just see a bit of it.

Mine is similar to this Beeza one:

The black bit on mine is different and I have the active cradle at the iPod end.

That cable would separate into 3 parts. Detaching at either side of the black rectangle. My guess the bit that contains the software. The cable to my cradle (haha check me badself) has a round connector, this is fine.

I think I need a new bit from the other side to the HU though. Or an adapter.

Thats right it does come apart.. So you need to try get rid of the red multi plug for a "Vag 12 pin" lead.

Heres mine..

A 20pin for a 12pin. I've emailed Dension so will see what they come back with.

The links in that Audi thread are all dead and 2 years old!

Dear Andy Hickling!

Theoretically you could keep your ice>Link Plus and switch cables if your reseller sells you just the cable. But you can not keep your CD-Changer with ice>Link Plus. For this our new product, the Gateway 300 would be perfect with a CDRxxxx module (CD Retention).

If you have further questions, please feel free to contact us again.

Best regards,

I guess it would have to be from a new Leon to be sure of it working. Could maybe try an old Audi one. Will have to ring some Dension resellers and ask them. Be nice if I knew what I was talking about though!

Works, lose aux.

Steering wheel controls are quite good too. I have my ipod set to the ipod OS not the Dension one. It gives me volume control, track skipping and FF & RW all from the wheel. The mute seems to have a wobble as it tries to pause it. Better than in the MK1 though.

I now have CDC instead of AUX which suits me fine. Not sure on the Brodit console mount though. Might try the vent mount.

Hi Guys, this is my first post. My new Leon should arrive start/mid May all being well.

There's a couple of things I'm unsure about and this seems to be the thread with all the knowledge.

My understanding is that the factory fit iPod kit doesn't give you much functionality, other than selecting between your first 6 playlists and track skipping, so I've cancelled this from my order knowing that I can always order it through dealer for a retro-fit.

Do the Dension kits give you anymore functionality, is there anyway you can scroll artists or albums from the HU. I doubt it. I would just change the HU but will I lose my bluetooth option or can the BT just be connected to any HU?

If I go with a Dension kit and use it to control volume, muting and track skipping, let's say my ipod is within reach...can I still use the iPod controls to navigate to an album for example and still use the steering wheel controls to skip tracks?
I'd settle for that as a solution if someone can confirm (Control from iPod and skip and volume from steering wheel)??

The other thing I wanted to know had been mentioned on page 1 of this thread but nobody responded, that I could see anyway. Do we know if there is an AUX out on the Leon HU, I'd like to run a signal to a small active sub for a little extra enjoyment from my audio without having it up loud. Any ideas?

Can't wait for this to arrive so I can get out of this Corsa I'm driving. I had a C4 VTR+ which was written off in Nov.
The only thing I'm unsure about my Leon is it's in white. I love the colour, think it looks awesome but fear I'll be washing all the time cause think it will look awful dirty.

Thanks in advance guys (LeonP1)
Ross.

Factory fit AUX in doesn't give you any control it is simply an RCA lead (benefit being any mp3 player can be used)

Factory fit ipod specific connection is a dension

How the dension operates.
You turn on the radio and select cdc dension comes alive
You can control volume, skip tracks and i think skip playlists (skip playlists may be unavailable with the bluetooth fitted?)

Now you have 6 CD buttons for choosing which Dsc (playlist) you want to listen to, but only 5 of these will actually choose a playlist (assigned by alphabetical order so if you had a playlist called 1 Car Music it would probably work out as button 1 etc so you can designate which playlist goes to which button by naming your playlists appropriately.

button 6 lets you into the dension config where you can then select Access Ipod Gui or something similar where you can then control the ipod using it's click wheel, allowing a passenger to flick through tracks (i think at this point you can still use the steering wheel controls just fine)

Also if you press 6 and enter config you can use the track skip buttons on the wheel to select menu items and from that you can choose a play list (any that are on the ipod) or Album play which will play the album of the current track. Moving between menu's is slow and not a great idea to do while driving.

As far as I know.. no head units have aux in or aux out built into the headunits. I used a line level output converter (which the garage picks up using vag-com because it detect that something has changed in the stereo due to it being hooked into the can-bus system).

The white leons look great.. just give it a proper polish and wax before you let any dirt settle on it. Some people say the leons look better dirty, rallied look and all that :D

Anymore questions about ice>Link let me know, i can go to the car later and try something if there is anything you really need to know that I haven't explained or was unsure about.
