Whats this fuel thingy

Just been topping my brake fluid and spotted this, just wanted to know what is it and what it does,
appears to have 3 piping going to it and 2 leading to fuel line rack. The other thing is, they seem to be sticking out abit, should i push them in or leave it?

Looks like a fuel filter.
If it's not broke, don't fix it?

Can't be certain but it's probably something to do with emmissions and fuel distribution

Possibly. on the TDI it's in a similair place so i assumed the Petrol variants might share the same fittings.

fuel filter is at the back i think...

isn't that to do with air filtration...its like a carbon box or something

If you look on my pic in roughly the same area you can see the Fuel filter on mine.
I'd be surprised if it isn't a fuel filter on yours. I know they are different size/shape, but it runs on different fuel, so maybe thats why?

Just checked, my fuel filter is at back near the fuel tank! so it cant be anoher fuel filter

In that case....... i don't know
You could try disconnecting something, running the engine and then checking for faults on Vagcom. might give you a hint

Thats connected to the fuel line! something i dont want to pull out when the car is running!

Thats a fair deal. I know diesel won't ignite below 54c where as the flashpoint of petrol is a lot lower.

It's just a plastic cover (on top of a heatshield that protects the fuel lines) that the lines pass through.

DPJ, inside the box, is theere a joint where the fuel line meet? i somtims get sniff of petrol when starting, checked the the injectoors, fuel filte.

If i wanted to check that box, how do i remove the cover?
