Well the volume controls seem to be rather intermittant. Sometime they work and sometimes they don't. The mute works fine though

Has anyone got it set up to switch on and off with the ignition? This is bugging me a bit. I'm thinking of coming off the cig lighter, but it looks like a big job just to find 1 wire.. Any tips?

I'm ready to attempt the steering controls as well.. It doesn't look fun!

Yes posted already that I took an ignition feed from the cigarette lighter.

Easy really. There are 3 wires to it, remember the brown is the ground so its whatever colout the other big wire is. Lift of the flap from nuder the handbrake and run the cable round.

Yes, it was the Alpine KCA200BT. Its a pain to use but only really need to use it for incoming calls which works ok. It won't sync the phonebook with my n73 though.

Thought I'd update this and hopefully make it a bit easier for people.

Check through the thread for specifics, but....

Things you need other than the headunit, with rough price guide:

-Seat SatNav surround (Part number varies for different colour dash/models..) About £10

-VW DoubleDin adaptor (Needs modifying to fit) £15:
http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/vol...7.html?cadid=bf24dddfb935e3f19d75676a8420cd68

-Some spire nuts to secure the above VW facia: http://www.keeptheheaton.com/acatalog/PREGQ80.jpg

-ISO to Quad-Lock adaptor £10: AutoLeads part I used is PC2-75-4 (This won't give you ignition feed, see below..)
-Fakra connector £12:
http://www.nexxia.co.uk/Car_Stereo_fitting_kits/seat.htm (Look under Toledo Jan 2005 >)

- Halfords ISO aerial adaptor £3

-Ignition feed wire to the radio (Cig lighter is 1 option, although I believe there is another in the redundant wires on extra cd block.. See Blaupunkt diagram http://public.fotki.com/s602/seat-tech-pics/mp3wiring.html section C, connector 4?)

-SWI-CAN and SWI-X for steering control adaptors. $58 and about $40
http://www.peripheralelectronics.co...=Steering Wheel Control Interfaces&strSearch=
http://www.discountcarstereo.com/detail.aspx?ID=900

-A few hours of patience.. This is important! :)

Useful stuff:

See post #126 by Jubjubbird for some good instructions on some of the install and pic..

Also, if you take the glove box out, there is a little cap you can remove/modify for the iPod cable to go, if that’s where you want it.

I know this is sort of unrelated, but i thought I'd mention it in this thread....

I started a new job 3 weeks ago working for Alpine :) They do some REALLY cool stuff!!!

Talking to some of the guys there, I've found out that there's a lot of cool stuff coming out soon, such as high spec sound processors with built in amps....I've put my Leon forward as a potential test car!!

BTW our headunits with IPod interfaces really are the best on the market by far!

Funny you should say that, it's an area that's being looked into at the moment. We're trying to move more towards adaptions and modifications which will fit into current setups without changing the look of the car, for instance the sound processors.
These will take the input from the head unit, but process and amplify all of the signals through a backend unit giving you fantastic sound quality and more than enough power to supply a sh*tload of speakers whilst sitting somewhere in the car unnoticed and not having to change your display :)

All the better for me as i can get this at cost price and hopefully fitted here :p

I'll ask about your steering adapter next week - quite a few people are off today for a long bank holiday.
