Ditto. Although with less mileage than you at the moment ;)

Been local to the office all week, drive for lunch today and *bing* dpf light.

Well at least i know it works ;)

Quick drive up and down the local ring road sorted it out.

Most of my driving is around town - so I tend to rev between 2 and 3 rpm but with a heavy foot to feel the torque. i.e little squirts of acceleration. Never seen the light come on.

I'm proud owner of a Seat Leon TDI FR and found the transition from petrol to diesel better than I thought. Though however having driven 700 miles in about a month I've already had the DPF light come on three times, once at 300 to which the guy at New Southgate told me the method of clearing it in the manual does not work (Subsequently his colleagues told me otherwise), again at 470 miles to which I successfully cleared driving in 3rd gear 2500 revs approx for 15 - 20 minutes, and again around 550 but this was cleared as I was able to do some motorway cruising!! Question is how do you guys drive your FR's, I tend to gear up to 4th and do lots of driving in London which probably isn't the best situations to put the car in as there are plenty of stop and goes. Thoughts appreciated.

TBH, you shouldn't be seeing the DPF light coming on so quickly........

I drive around london as well, and the first time the light popped on was after about 1k........

That was rectified by my local dealer by taking it for a 15min spin on the A3......

I've had it pop on again at 2k, which I rectified by cruising around the A406 at 1 in the morning at speeds greater than 70mph....

Having put 5k on the clock now, the car runs fine......

The problem is if you constantly drive locally and in short stints.... basically the DPF doesn't get hot enough to burn the diesel soot that it catches.

These days I take it for a good spin on the north circular (between hanger lane and Southgate) in the early hours of the morning (usually after leaving my gfs place).

BTW, how do you find the service at Southgate? I got my first Mk 2 from them (Sport TDi) and had to keep bringing the car back into the dealer to get things fixed...... got really p!ssed off with them.......
I bought my TDi FR from my local dealer (Wimbledon) because Southgate wouldn't play ball with giving me any discounted prices!

done 7.5k miles, had the dpf light on once, and that was after following some blue rinser down country roads for 25miles at somewhere between 0-25mph.

I wanted to do a GTA and rip them out their f'in car!!!

Seems to come on if you put a lot of strain on the engine, ie when normal diesels would smoke a lot, the soot gets caught up in the filter.

Cleared mine with a quick burn down the same road :)

I do love this car.....so completely effortless to drive, and ridiculously economical for something with 170bhp and weighing 1400kg!! Saw 52mpg the other week driving at 60mph for 30miles.
