removing Stereo and CD Changer?

HI all

well my CD changer has just failed on me:cry::censored:, it wont eject the magazine at all, but luckily i happened to buy an aftermarket HU off ebay a while back, so i need to know the following:

1) How do I remove the standard HU in a 2001 LC? (pre facelift)?
2) How do i remove the CD Changer as it seems pretty well secured?
3)Where have people bought the HU face adaptor to enable the fitment of aftermarket HU's?

Thanks

1 - i cut up an old card and along the bottom of the HU are 2 slots,, poke your card in there and it will release the stero so you can pull it out.

2 - there is a plastic surround that just prise's off then this reveals 2 screws that your just un-do and the cd changer will just slide out

3 - halfords usually have the adapters in stock for about 15quid

Is your CD changer in glovebox???
If so just carefully pull the plastic cowling off the front.
It will reveal two crosshead screws. Undo and slide unit out.
I bought the glove box insert and then fitted in reverse order.

HU? Mine was the Aura unit but you just need the prongs from Halfords in theory.

Can't help you but i'm going to be looking at doing this as well before too long - i'm tired of all the "CD-ERROR", "NO-CD" and the more annoying- "ERROR" messages when changing discs.

Good luck!

yeah I get those errors, for no reason at all

these CD Changers are pretty crap, as my mates did exactly the same, then one day, it just completely failed!

he took it apart, but its one of these units that really is not meant to be taken apart, as its cheap as chips and not quality made

well thanks for all the help guys, I will give it a go at the weekend, as the radio is ok, but I miss my CD's:cry:

cheers guys, will be popping along to Seat today, as on the Aura HU, you need the two metal type keys to pull it out, as could not get it out yesterday
