hey guys ... i have been doin a lot of searches and kinda have an idea about what im gona do .. but coz i have never done any of this before ...ever .... just wanted to make sure i wasnt got bu**er up my car :)

ive got 20V T Sport , and the previous owner fitted a Bailey Sport Atmospheric blow off valve ... which pretty much everyone says makes noise but knackers the engine .... its got a boost gauge as well , but i think that is it ....

i want to get rid of the whoosh sound , but make it a little throatier .... so how about fitting the Forge 007p recirc valve, and a green filter for the airbox ?

oh and what does "smoothing the air box" entail ?

i live near birm . ... and wondering if anyone knows anywhere good to go for it , and how much these toys will set me back :)

ps: i am trying to go down this mod slope slowly , wish me luk :help:

Mood, the green filter wont give you the throatier noise your after.
You have to look at Green dynatwist,BMC or Ramair to give you the induction sound.

smoothing the airbox has its proven points. Use the search button.good stuff.
Yes, slippery slope these mods.

the forge 007p is a good replacement valve as the original ones do tend to wear over time, but if you wanted to keep the whoosh sound you could always go for the new split r valve both of which are available from awesomegti or forge.
a k&n or green panel is a good place to start and will definatly improve airflow to the engine, as to what smoothing the airbox is im not really sure:(

so u recken change valve to Forge 007p , smooth airbox and green filter will give better air flow , will be better for the engine ( much effect on performance???) but will lose the noise ?

if i want the noise , go for the split r valve from forge ?

did i get that ?

oh & the bailey you could change to the Forge 007 which is re-circulating type and more commonly used.

i think there is a baileys dv30 that is suitable. someone will say soon.
Carbonio intake is what you want.

the baileys dv30 is that atmospheric or recirc ? i dunno which baileys one it is .... all i know is its blue and makes a hell of a noise !

carbonio intake ... that would be the whole CAI and not just a filter i take it ? i heard the carbonios are really noisy ?

Smoothing airbox+007+green filter..you wil get good airflow& gains but you wont get too much of the 'noise' your after

split-r as daljamo says is a good place to start.

how do u think "Smoothing airbox+007+green filter" would cost me ?

do most garages do this kind of thing ? or am i best to find some sort of specialist ?

and how much harm do u think the Baileys dump valve ive got on now is doing to the engine ? i dunno how long its been on there , but the car has done about 55k , its a MY2001, and i put about 50miles a day on it :)

Your bailey DV obviously is not harming you car as it is obviously running well just now, right?
The Bailey DV is atmospheric, ie dumps to the atmosphere (noisy) as opposed to recirc (forge 007p and others).
Smoothing the air box you will have to do yourself (gives you something to do when its raining outside)
If its induction noise (growl) you want I believe the Carbionio kit is a noisy one but would probably be better going straight to a Stainless steel exhaust as you will do this at some point and this will drone out the induction noise any way.

On my LCR I have the Pipercross Viper CAI. £250 i think.
Growl a plenty with some woosh, I prefer this.
Carbonio and similar on a Leon Cupra seems to have growl but loads of woosh.
Viper kit is available for cupra. Not a cheap CAI!!
A remap is gonna give the biggest perfromance per pound spent though.
:D

not sure it doesnt blow into the atmosphere but it makes a nice scutter like a waste gate. the spool up is louder!!!. if u want a re-circ that blows into the atmosphere forge do 1 its £148. the 1 ive got cost £110. easy to fit.
