Wind noise on cupra

A few months ago, March, I posted an item about the excessive wind noise on my then new cupra:(. Some of the answers I got were helpful and confirmed that it was something of an issue.
Eventually when the car was coming up for it's first service I talked to the dealer and yes Seat had accepted that there was a problem to do with where the wing mirror is mounted.
One day in the garage and I now have a quieter car that lets me hear the lovely sound of the engine as I wind it up instead of just hearing a gail! So if you are fed up with the wind noise, take it back, they can now fix it!!:D:funk:

Any idea what they did to fix it?

Bit with mine, but I wouldn't take it to my dealer in Edinburgh. Wouldn't trust them with a service let alone a repair.

I think that they removed the mirror & the speaker on the inside and fitted some kind of gasket to fill some gaps in the welding of the internal metalwork. They had some printout photos showing them what needed doing. & it has made a huge difference.
Hope that helps!

Thats some good news. i've had the wing mirror and speaker grill off on mine to find that the stealer had used black filler (silicone i think) which i'm not happy about.

My cars in the garage again next week this time for a damaged wheel which was on when i brought the car (i'll try and get a photo of it) and my drivers seat side air bag sqweeks every time i change gear or direction.

I'll mention the wing mirror and see what the stealer says.

That's weird. Both replies from FR users and both working in IT.
Can't you guys handle a cupra? Just kidding;)

When you fit a brand new bathroom you use some silicon to seal
stuff. So why not on a car as long as it is not seen and it does the job? Most of a Smart is held together with sealant & tape, oh and made of plastic!

My next question is how the hell do you stop spiders nesting in your wing mirrors? every bloody morning I have a pair of spiders webs to clean off the mirrors, b*st*rds!

Be out in it tomorrow night though. Changed all the bulbs at the front today for better ones.

Hey Rash

Thinking of doing something to my cupra as I have now got used to 160 horses and want some more!!
Remapping, does this work? is it legal? can the stealer tell? does it invalidate my warranty?
with your "mk4 Ibiza Cupra 333bhp & 322lb ft" you obviously know a bit about this stuff. Me I know nothing
Cheers

alo mate there is lots on this forum about tuning up the cupra's but there certainly is not alot of stuff on bigger turbo's! depends what you want if your looking just to make it a bit nippier 200bhpish then a revo remap is for you i would say Custom-code but it cant be turned on and off on a button like the revo! dealer will not know its been modded or insurance but thats up to you! want power press the button want your mpg swithch it off SORTED i would also recommend an uprated clutch as the tdi's as soon as they are remapped they tend to get bad clutch slip this will cost you around £700 including the map and the clutch aprox!.

but if 200 bhp isnt enough for you ;) get a 1.8 20vt or a bigger turbo VT2 tubo fits but im not to fresh on diesel modding allards or jbs are places to go if you want to go big turbo but be exspected to pay around 3,000 minimum for a basic kit and about 240+bhp

Yo vinocolapso ,

Got my FR booked in for the windnoise cure today, hoping it cures it.....

...I did say to the women that if I hold the door tight at the top then this also cures it, but I guess eliminating the source of the noise shud do the trick....We'll see!

Fingers crossed mate! I am certainly happy with what the stealer did, I can hear the engine & talk on the phone, hands free of course above 60mph which was impossible before.
& I never tried driving while pulling the door, shut bu**ers up my ability to steer!
