other than the fr diesel, what is the best mk3 ibiza diesel you can buy, would it be possible to build a ibiza, upto a cupra spec but with the use of say a high power diesel lump out of the golf gt/gti tdi 115-150bhp.

or is there one already avaliable, my working situation has just changed and will have a 55 mile round trip to work now, was hoping to get a ibiza cupra, but now might be a little to much to run, so was thinking deisel power.

didint really want to go down the golf route as there just slightly to big and bulky. so was thinking whats avaliable in standard form? can it be modded to a very high spec and still have great MPG.

any ideas, already convertered cars and suggestions would be great.

Easy to buy a tdi sport, map it to 140bhp, get the bumpers off a cupra, altho you will probably need to wings to as they are flared and the cupra interior and some wheels and its close enough :)

just noticed a 51 plate, 1.9 tdi sport 110bhp, is this the same engine of the gti tdi golf, and if so can this be tuned to produce respectable performance figures?

im not really that clued up on seats so need advise really. im looking for at least 150bhp, a fair bit of torque, the looks, interior, ride height and wheels obviously i can sort, its just the engine bits im stumped on tbh!

Well its pretty much the same engine as the gt tdi 110 unit from a Golf, Revo can map the car to run 140bhp and shed loads of torque, so nearly on a par with a standard Cupra.

Obviously you can get big power out of it if you want to spend the cash!

is the width at the back of the diesel sport the same as the cupra? getting the front/rear bumpers and sides aint a problem. getting front wings may be slightly harder, but doing the rears would be a mission wouldnt it?

i cant really afford a new ibiza cuprs/fr diesel so just trying to think out o fthe box really.

looking on good old auto trader, there aint that much difference in price between the mk3 and mk4 tdi sports, but saying that i do much prefer the looks of the mk3,

i think even if the modded diesel cost slightly more than a cupra after i had done, i think it would be worth it as it would have the looks, performance and MPG.

i do really want a cupra, the job i have just got pays so much more, but its further away so got to come up with a cunning plan, to still have a great car and pocket some of my pay rise LoL!

Performance seems to be high on your priorities mate. Remember the MK4 TDi sport comes with the 130bhp PD engine so more scope for tuning! Cupra bumpers can be put on the MK4 and make it look very smart indeed!

performance is at the fore front tbh as i was aiming for a cupra, i dont really like the looks of the mk4 tbh, looks a little out of proportions imo.

after reading through stew's modds on his tdi sport it has given me lots to mull over.

if im going to be producing 150+ bhp and a good lot of torque to back that up then thats really good tbh.

also i f can achieve 60mpg + on long hauls then thats fantastic. the looks of the car will be the same as what i would of done to a normal cupra, was just an issuse with the performance, which my mind has now been put at rest.

sssstew- think we might become best mates LoL!

ok this is looking pretty good now:

51 plate 110bhp tdi sport in silver
Cupra bumpers, skirts and front wings
Cupra front and rear lights
Cupra seats and door cards
speed bra
bit of smoothing
Coilovers
BBS RS's / RM's polished and centre in dark grey/black
or porcshe wheels or 18's with porcshe brakes.
remap and engine mods (not sure what yet)

looking for around 160-190 bhp and 250+ turque.

think that should be a pretty good car imo. looking at the funds tonight and hopefully the project will start soon.

I'd love a diesel Sport. If that one on Auto Trader has really only done 6,400 miles then 4.5k is a steal
