Ordered a Cupra 8th May specifying September delivery but to be notified if it arrived earlier.

It arrived at the Port of Tyne this morning and the dealer is asking if i want it now (7-10 days) or putting into Seat Storage at the port (no charge).

I don't need the car yet as i already have 3 on the drive and need to sell one to make room or put it in as part ex but they offered a poor price so should sell it private really.

Head says wait out for the 57 plate, but on the other hand I wouldn't mind it now!! :help:

If i scraped the money together now to pick it up I would be skint for 2 months...or wait until September and have spending money....but i want it. lol :D

if you really dont need it now id say wait. 57 plate sounds good then you would have some money to spend on it when u get it, remap arb's etc thats my view, oh and get and sell ur car.....

Argh!! lol

Not going to be spending money on remaps etc as this is my commuting car that replaces the 306 D Turbo. I waste my money on a modded remapped STI. The misses would kill me for modding this one as well ;)

Although in a 6 months time.... ;)

57 plate would be nice, but how safe from damage are cars in storage at a port???

having a scooby sort of defeats the purpose of getting a cupra for the work run i would have thought.

Accidents happen - but it'll be fixed if it was to get bumped - many new cars gets damaged at some point in their transport and the owner will never know as it will all be fixed before they ever see the car

Newer reg's are typically worth £500 more than the previous plate, so I'd wait til 57 reg! Its only 8 weeks, enough time to clear the drive :)

wait, sort your money, then you will feel better when you pick it up. Plus sell the other car for space. Gives you more of an incentive to sell it then. not that plate differences affect money much in todays market, but there will be a small difference,

Well I let the dealer know my decision...waiting until September!!

Makes the most sense really although i'm not too bothered on the value it might add to the car as i plan on keeping it at least 4-5 yrs anyway.

Poverty: Not sure I understand what you mean?

Scooby averages 23-24mpg on my work route as i have to go through Newcastle which kills the MPG. Max on a Mway is 28mpg!

Cupra and my 02 STI are totally different cars. Cupra is quick for a Diesel and great for day to day driving but my STI is mid 4s to 60 and low 12's to 100 so is quite a bit quicker. Not mention AWD handling in any weather condition. The Scooby is more a weekend toy. I also like cars that stand out and are quite rare, hence my limited edition STI Prodrive Stlye edition.

If you mean I should probably go for a normal or slower diesel I could agree. However driving an STI with Brembo makes me NEED decent brakes, hence the Cupra. I also get very annoyed driving my 306 DTurbo to work as their are moments i want to over take but can't! ;)

I reckon the Cupra is a good compromise really between performance and running costs and should see me doing 100+k before i get rid of it :)

not 2 far from my way mate. Have 2 say newcastle during the day is a total joke for traffic

Your telling me! 3pm tomorrow will be a nightmare.

It was bad enough yesterday at 3 trying to get across the bridge. The slightest bit of rain just makes many people panic and crawl along.

I generally take the Scooby on a friday to clean it out ;)

Blue 02 with a rather loud exhaust and scooby doo in the back window if you see me ;) lol
