Thinking of getting it mapped

hey all

Well currently I run a 01 LC, with BF exhaust, Carbonio, Forge DV and soon to be a Forge TIP (and Evo gasket)

still running the standard smic. looking to get it mapped, and I would expect about 230bhp, would this be right? not sure what the peak power would be though....

basically I had to drop out of the Forge FMIC group buy....and thinking about it I just want the power now

Is it worth holding out for the fmic....? or sod it, get it mapped and enjoy the power:D

Didnt you basically organise that group buy ?

Did it happen or fall through?

Should of gone pro alloy:D

you'll be very lucky to get 230bhp out of an LC with just a remap mate. (IMO)

My car with stg 2 + FMIC and all the other usual bits is running at just on 220bhp, and around 240-250lbft.

I don't think you'll ever see 230bhp on an LC without serious modifications - unless of course you are on one of the more "generous" RR's.... (and lets not get into that discussion!)

without an fmic...its dreamers land (imo)

unless of course you trowell the country for an RR setup that'll over read for you

yes because the RR result is always right remember:rolleyes:

ok, point taken, I will wait again

and yes I did organise the Group buy lol - but moving out and the FMIC is now "too" much, but thought I might get away with it with just spending a quick £300-400 for a remap

I should know better really as my ibiza had the FMIC etc etc

if only it were that easy mate, we'd all be doing it and nothing else - but unfortunately more money is required to get the higher power figures :(

I actually recon 230-235 is going to be at the k03s limit....

thanks mate, pretty well versed on the K03s side of things, and although alot of people get sometimes 250bhp from the unit, i think a realistic 245 absolute maximum is more likely

although at that sort of power, heat soak would be a major factor, as the standard smic's simply cannot cope with the higher boost, and peak power would certianly suffer

well, lets see about the fmic anyway....me just being me, I want it all done at once:D

I want the best mods, at the cheapest prices...dont we all:whistle:

I think, pound for pound, a remap will offer more than any other mod. Just be realistic with your expectations, or else you'll either be disappointed, or a silly person:)

Let me put it this way.

I see FAR more LCR's that get less power than 250bhp - and a lot of these have "power enhancing" modifications...... ok so most of them not running quite right, but for an LC to get that figure on std turbo, inlet manifold/MAF etc I find it hard to believe.... I'm sure if you do the sums with airflow etc you'll find a max power figure.... then you've got to take into account all of the variables, such as poor fuel, tyres, tyre pressure etc.....

But anyway - that's all besides the point.... you'll not be getting 230 from just a remap and a few minor bits.

Oh, and from me - definately source yourself a Forge FMIC - fantastic bit of kit that REALLY makes a difference!

you need it slow boy like pab said mate prob most 230 ish or so depends on tuner and rr to

lol shut it "Franky":D

well the only mod it will be missing is the FMIC - which as far as I know in my experience is good for peak power

the turbo back exhaust, CAI, DV, Evo gasket, Forge TIP will already be on, so the only thing missing is the FMIC....so surely 230bhp will be achieveable, but without the FMIC, it simply wont be able to hold the power as long due to heat soak?

Call me stupid but whats an evo gasket?

a gasket which sits between the inlet manifold (spaces it out a few mm), Bill on here sells them, they reduce the intake temps and for £80 are a worthy mod:)

***EDIT*** I think its called an evo gasket or something like that

What about a 4bar FPR to suit the map?
What about decent fuel - I'm assuming this is a given that you'll be using optimax or BP Ultimate (or better) anyway.
What about spark plugs? Crap/knackered/old plugs won't help...
and the car will need to be running top-notch....

I've found I can have more bhp and less torque, or less bhp and more torque, but not both....

Torque is what matters anyway :)

Some people have also changed the inlet manifold for one by an aftermarket tuner - also good for a couple more bhp apparently...

sorry yes, me being Naive, that should have been mentioned as of course yes it will be starved of fuel...i just took that into account for the 4bar fpr, as this will be recommended by Jabba prior to the map

spark plugs are bran new, as recently serviced and the rest of the car is running excellent at the moment

car will me mapped on Shell Optimax

How exactly does a gasket that sits on the inlet manifold reduce intake temperatures?

Not saying I doesn’t, just wondered what the theory was behind it?
