New Windscreen Needed

some may say lala land....
Hi all,
I was wondering if people could offer thoughts on this;
I need to replace my windscreen due to 6inch crack brought on by dodgy weather we had. When i called RAC Auto Windscreens to do the work, they asked if it was tinted, had rain sensors and heated.

The tint i'm gonna take as i don't like bright lights.

I didn't realise Seat windows had rain sensors or were heated.
Are they? and if so what else would i need to make them work once fitted? guessing switch and possibly relay but what else? I loved my Ford Quick Clear Screen, all cars should have these by default.

Thanks for any comments, advice, thoughts

They have a set of standard questions. Don't asssume they know anything about your car. As an example I got told i couldn't drive my old car for 3 hours so the glue could set. All very well but it was a mk2 golf and the screen wasn't bonded in.

My windscreen was replaced just 2 weeks ago by Auto Windsreens (mobile fitter). They said that they only replace the screen with an exact replica.

45mins from start to finish, just £60 insurance excess to pay

The comments from the fitter on how good my tints looked were free!:)

mines an 04 plate so probably not, but worst i can do is say yes to the questions and then see what happens.
Am doing through insurance as well and they said my excess was £60 so happy with that if i get other additions for nought.

cheers again guys

I wouldn't say yes to the rain sensors. It's 99.9% certain that your car doesn't have them and the windscreen alone wont give you that option, as you'll need the relevant electrics to go with it. You may also find the sensors leave a bigger black mark behind the mirror, which wont look pretty.

some may say lala land....
hello,
Been a while since i asked but have just failed MOT due to crack in screen. When talking with fitter they said that i can have a heated screen as they were but changed around 04/05, and i could have as mine has a round fuel cap cover.

So he has ordered the heated one for me - he just won't be able to plug it in.

As a result, Does any one know where these plug in? Where is the switch on the dash? and lastly, does any one know of part numbers?

Thanks for any help.

Just thought I'd give an update.

Had the new screen fitted this morning - standard green tint only.
RAC Auto Windscreens in Shrewsbury did the work and fantastic job as well.
Also replaced wipers, (were naff), with nice new Valeo and it hasn't rained yet.

Thanks for your comments on which I may / may not get, but seems get different result with the heated.

If i were you, I'd go down my local SEAT Stealers, and ask this info from the parts dept, they should be able to tell you if your car has or was fitted with a heated screen/rain sensors or what from the chassis number i would have thought, failing that try the stealers where the car was suppied from they should have a record of what options it was sold with.
