rust on the hubs and disks is absolutely expected and will happen fairly soon anyway! some of your other points sound like stealer bulls**t!

i have to agree,

show me one set of used brake disks that are not rusty!!! and it does not matter about rust on the hubs really, they are substansial enough and are nto going to cause you any problem.

but for this lot
1. Rust on the wipers where the bottom of the spring is, apparently is standard rust on any new LEON 2.
What a load of BULL, tell them that the springs are painted, mine deffinatly are on my ibiza!

2. What i thought was rust on the Hatch door hinges is where it hasnt been painted, standard on LEON 2.
Basically again a load of BULL door hinges should not get rusty (again mine arnt)
3. Radio is faulty new one has been ordered for it.
+1 for stealers
4. Paint imperfection on drivers side sill just behind front wing, imperfection has slightly raised surfaces under the paintwork, SEAT was contacted by the main dealer, and have told them that if it cant be seen 1 metre away then i have to pay for correction and repaint, as it will not be covered by warranty.

That is the biggest load of :censored:i have heard in a long time, imperfections will hardly be noticable unless they are taking the P*SS.

i would strongly advise getting an independant company to look at your car and do a thorough search. it may cost a bit but well worth it as it may get this situation sorted out quicker

While i was being told at the customer desk about the things i mentioned, i could feel my blood pressure rising, I should have asked them there and then if they are taking the p***, i have never heard of standard rust on brand new cars before maybe i just havent heard until now about it, but it does feel like they are trying to fob me off and have a laugh on my expense[:@]
It is going back tomorrow to have the centre console mended where the plastic was damaged while they put a 12v socket cover there, the guy was meant to repair it today but didnt turn up, actually that will be interesting because if it looks **** when he has so called took the damage out then i am going to say my piece to them, I have kept the dealers name out of the way for now because i wanted to give them the benifet of the doubt, but if they carry on thinking that way then i will to put them down as a dealership to steer away from, even though i might not be popular if i do:headhurt:
Anyway lets see the outcome of my second visit first:argue:

There is a warning list on here? i never knew that. Have you spoke to traiding standards? i feel exactly the same as you, and my hinges are painted. I too have the rust + water ingress from the bacl door seals + my when i close my windows they open again and again and again.

I love the car but don't think id buy a SEAT again. I was going to buy the new civic and wish i had now

hi woody,
is it one window or several? if it is only one i suspect it is the 'anti-pinch' (pinch as in nip, not steal) feature that is faulty and if the car is still under warranty then it should be fixed without any quibble.

if you and leon2driver could post pics of your 'rust' issues we would be better positioned to offer our comments/advice.

leon2driver, good luck (although you shouldnt have to rely on luck) for tomorrow. keep us posted.

UPDATE, took the car in this morning to have the damage on console repaired, well i have to take my hat off to the guy who done it because you wouldnt have noticed it was damaged at all now.
He done a first rate job:clap:, from a company called "magic mend", specialists in that kind of repair.
New radio is on order:clap:
As for the other bits i.e rust, well i checked the other LEON 2 cars in the show room and they to, had the rusty bits on the wipers where the spring is attached at the bottom of the arm, and the area underneith the hatchdoor hinges isnt rust but where the paint isnt finished off as good as the rest of the body of the car.
The imperfection to be quite honest isnt worth doing at the moment, i will see what happens in the next couple of months to see if anything worse develops there, if it does then they have the notes as to when i pointed it out.
So for now it wouldnt be fair to shame the dealership as i am happy for now, although i will be keeping a close eye on making sure nothing else develops fault wise.:stick:

as long as your happy with the outcome thats all that matters.

if you could still post pics of your concerns i'm sure it would be of benefit to others.

i think you have been misguided about the way motor manufacturers store their cars. the image below is of nissans sunderland plant storage taken from google earth (its over 1/3 mile square!). all finished cars go to this area and then on to wherever by whatever means. cars are not built and put straight on a ship, ask many members of this forum about times between build date and delivery date.

nissan.jpg

Yep thats true, cars are stored for ages often before they get registered. But you still expect a new car when it does arrive, with all the bits in new condition.

Recently i saw a 53reg arosa TDi, in the dark blue they come in, i thought that was strange as that colour stopped productuin in late 02. It was also advertised with a passeneger airbag and ABS.

So i went to have a look, It was indeed an 02 car without a pass air bag, or ABS and even had the light grey interior of early cars. But it was a 53plate but really the car was atleast a year older. So god knows where that had been until it was registered. It just goes to show, someone bought that new in mid 2003 and actually got a 12 month old car!.

Update, got car back from the main dealer today, here is what i was told !!

1. Rust on the wipers where the bottom of the spring is, apparently is standard rust on any new LEON 2.
2. What i thought was rust on the Hatch door hinges is where it hasnt been painted, standard on LEON 2.
3. Radio is faulty new one has been ordered for it.
5. And last one is the rust on hubs and disks are not rust, would love to know what the brown coloured dust on the hubs and disks are then.

Basically if the car has rust it has to be very noticable or it wont be covered in the warranty..
And any imperfections, unless it is noticable 1metre away then you have to pay out to correct it even though it is brand new.
So one item i am happy about, the rest :censored:

Standard rust hey! thats a new one. Its really not what you would expect on a new car. I would be furious. Although many problems are the dealers in my experience,

They are simply not interested, and they just saw what ever they want to make you go away. Like the often use of "its just how your car is Mr..." absolute rubbish.

After my experience with two of my local SEAT stealers with my first Seat i swor i would never ever buy another SEAT, its just a shame they build such nice cars and good looking ones since i bought another. But still the dealer is garbidge.

Hope you get it all sorted and dont loose interest in your car over the issues.

Chris

Only problem I have had is the rear hubs looking rusty which happened within a couple of months. A quick rub with wet & dry and then painted with hammerite smooth silver fixed it.

The paint flaw sounds like stealer BS. I wouldn't be happy with that either.

I have had a look at my car where the rust has pointed out and I see nothing on it.
The hinges on all doors and hatch a painted same as car and the springs on my wiper arms are painted black with again no signs of rust or even discoloured if water were sitting around

Seems like as most people have said its the dealer trying to fob you off.

Personally, if it was me, I'd have not worried about it.

Had the car have been second hand then i would have been of the same opinion, but a brandnew car with as quoted standard rust on them parts to me sounds like BS, anyway i am not going any further with it now as i can see it would be like trying to get blood from a stone.
So all i am waiting for now is my new radio as i had the phantom radio that switches itself on and off, another nice find on a new car with a fault.

Just checked 3 new Leons for you, all exactly the same. It's nothing to worry about.

Mines was brand new three weeks ago, and as i said, if it had been me I'd not have worried. (so much so, I've not even gone into that much detail when collecting it! and if I had, I would have ignored it.) Might go out later to see if i have the same on mine!

I would guess you perception of what you should expect is far greater than mine on a car which undercuts its 2 brothers by at least 4K.

Maybe you could try for an extra years warranty or a written "if it turns into proper rust problems we'll deal with it" guarantee.
