Just been to halfords...

Yes I know halfrauds blah blah money ...

But I was popping in for some new in car smelly stuff and had a butchers at the car cleaning stuff and was impressed to find lambs wool wash mits for 4 quid lamb polish mitts 4 quid, wheel dressing aplicators 3 quid, microfiber application pads 3 quid for 3.

Was rather impressed. Obviously i didnt have me wallet with me as I would have stocked up but figure you folks may want a heads up as fathers day is round the corner and its a nice cheap thing to do build a valeting kit for th eold man (or yourself)...

Theyre all halfords branded stuff and I've had a play with them they seem ok, the pads were turtle wax i believe,


I'll have more details later tonight as I'll be grabbing some kit ie new buckets and maybe a wool mitt or two.

I have loads of those m/f's but won't use them on the body panels. Only suitable for windows, shuts and wheels.

Ahhh... untrained one... Tesco do microfibre clothes for less than a pound each! All you need to do is walk away from the motoring section and walk into the household cleaning section.

Same cloths, different packaging, half the price

i got a pack of m/f mits from costco cheap, think there are 3 or 4 in a pack, cant remember price but only about 6quid

then got a pack of 24 m/f cloths from there aswell for about the same price top notch. got 2 out, 1 for drying and 1 for buffing after polishing.

i pop in every few weeks to see whats new cause its a cheap but good


shame that 3 for 2 offer isnt on in the halfrauds round here could do with topping up on some products cause iv run out or am running low.
knew i should have spent that last £20 last week on it but didnt get paid till tuesday, went in on the sunday and all signs gone

Try pound land etc for microfibre cloths, as i have had several from there and they seem to be pretty good Have close to about 30 i think, a mixture though of meguires to tescos to poundlands etc

I usually use the silicon blade thing to get most the water off first, then on special cars i use the meguires microfibre clothes i.e on the mrs cupra and our elise, but on **** cars like the arosa and the alfa 145 i just use the cheap microfibre cloths. I dont use a chamois any more.

Don't see the point of any of that to be honest. If you don't give a toss about the paintwork on your own cars, which I guess you don't given the technique, you may as well use the cheap m/f's. Looks like the sh!t cars are getting a better drying technique than your own if you are using a blade. If you want to do it properly then get yourself a waffle weave drying towel.

It depends how much water is on the cars though after i have finished rinsing them off with the hose. If there is alot then ill use the blade to get most the water off, then use the meguires cloths to dry the rest of them, then clay them etc etc. I only have an arosa sport, so i dont really care about the car tbh, hence why it hasnt been cleaned for a month... Now if it was my old ibiza which really was my pride and joy then yes, i would and always did used to do a proper job on them. I dont use the blade very often tbh, just occasionally when i cba. I have 5 meguire towels which i use to dry the cars with. sorry if i upset you

those water blades are very bad especially if you have missed a bit on the paint worl.. grit gets oicked up by the blade and wiped down the paint work causing scratches.

I always clean mine anyways before i use them, and ive never scratched the cars using them, although, i did when i had my silver 1.4 sx mk4 ibiza, i used the blade theing to try to get ice off the roof, coincidently it scratched the f*ck out of it woopsy.

I used one of those water blades about 2 years ago on my first car (02 verctra gsi) Having never used one before I was very carefull when using it. I bought it think it was going to be the dogs dangles (having never seen a detailing guide before). I took one light swipe down the front of my bonnet and ran a very light scratch down from the top to the bottom in one swipe. Needless to say I was gutted A that my paint work was now scratched and B I just spent about £15 on something scratch my car in one go.

PLEASE ANYONE READING THIS DO NOT BUY OR USE ONE OF THESE BLADES.

If you have one already please stop, your destroying your paintwork
