Ice Link - which one for the FR+

Hi Guys

I want to buy an Ice link plus kit for my Mk1 FR+ and I have found them at an OK price on IPOD car kit direct. But I am not sure which one to order.

The compatability information on the site is below

1. Seat Grundig Radio High, 5201, 5300 radios: with a square (8-pin) Mini ISO CD changer socket at the rear.

2. Seat Aura, Alana, Beta, Elba, Lena, Scala radios: with a square (8-pin) Mini ISO CD changer socket at the rear.

3. Seat Models (2004 onwards) with radios that have a square (12-pin) Quadlock CD changer socket at the rear.

My Leon was first registered Jan 06 and has an Aura CD/Radio head unit - I have had it out to check the connectors on the back and the only free socket is rectangular and has 20 small blade pins - I assume that this is to connect the CD changer / Dension ICE Link.

As you can see the info on the site does not match up with my car. Has anyone fitted an ICE Link to a similar model Leon and can point me in the right direction of which fitting I need?

Cheers
Steve

i fitted on of these to my leon fr tdi with the aura cd/radio and although the cd changer slot in the back of the radio has 20 small blades i am pretty sure that you have to buy the 8 pin plug (number 2 in your list) and it just doesn't take up the entire socket in the back of the radio. It will also only fit in one way so it is obvious where it goes.
Also when you get the kit and fix it all in place make sure that you earth the small lone black wire or the kit will not work. I don't think it tells you about this in the manual!
hope this helps.

You have an Aura in the MK1 Leon, so you need option 2.

My Ice>Link Plus has just packed up and I'm not too pleased at the minute...just to warn you support is terrible and updates are a nightmare!

Hi Steve,

I have had the Desion Ice Link in my Leon FR+ for just over a year, and have had absolutly no problems with it at all. However I have now just changed my headunit to an Alpine Full Control System (as I am wanting to urgrade the whole system), and no longer need it, its yours for £60 which includes postage, and a Brodit Bracket, and the black earth wire connection, which you just need to attach to the rear of the Aura headunit itself for a perfect fit.

Regards

Matt
