Stripped interior

OK guys, in my quest of making my car a little quicker without using many performance mods as the Insurance wouldn't insure me, I've decided that stripping the interior might be the next step. I can only strip what I can put back tho as the car will be for sale in 14 months time and needs to be reverted back to standard, so ripping the sound deadening is out of question. I'm really after some photos of Ibiza's with stripped interiors as I'm still on the verge of deciding whether to do it or not. So need something to persuade me TO do it ;)

Any photos or advice will be more then appreciated.

well its a good way of getting the car faster, but you are limited to what you can take out, work on if it unbolds and you dont need it, take it out, out far do you go? i have a MK1 golf, its only got what it needs, the rest is gone,

Probably a bit extreme for what you are doing as mine could never go back to standard, but...

Can take more pictures if you want me to. The heaviest parts are the seats.

flat panel of mdf where the rear seat base was carpeted the same as the boot, then make an mdf panel to raise the boot floor up as well.

remove seat belts & as above, put a strut brace in the way too.

that'll look bonza :)

whats happening in 14 months time then mig? new car? what type?

Well if things go to plan then I'm going to get myself a 200sx (the s14a to be precise). Once again quite a rare car (like GTI Ibizas) with a lot of potential. RWD, 2.0 Turbo but also not an absolute nightmare as far as running costs are concerned. I like to plan things out. For example when I had the 1.4 Beeza, I set myself a deadline of when to get a Valver, and so I started saving up, researching and getting to know them, an well............here I am in my Valver now [B)]

I know mate, kinda defines the point of striping the interior in the first place. Well I'll probably ditch the seats and my parcel shelf (15mm mdf) for a weeks and see how I get on. And then I'll either put everything back in, strip it completely or have a little think about Morks idea and get some thin-ish ply/mdf and flatten the back of the car.

Think it's pointless stripping a 1.4?

I'm trying to weigh having the seats+sub+nice looking insides against lightness.

Although, sometimes cars simply strapped out can look really good!

As you can see from the photos earlier in the thread, Jason's white mk2 is a 1.4. Fair enough he has sort of gone to the extreme, but I think it definitely did make a difference. Since I've got a black car, if I strip some of the carpet, will the bodywork underneath be black or white?? or bit of both?? 5 minutes ago I saw a new-ish civic with the interior stripped from the front seats onwards and it looked

maybe both...., but it will have sound deadening insulation stuck all over the floor

I'd leave it & tidy it up with carpet/panels

having had an utterly stripped car about 4+yrs ago, it's good fun, but too noisey on the road - 2hrs of bimbling along on the motorway & I was exhausted (and ears ringing)

I found that it was easier to lfb with it being bigger, but I couldn't heel & toe with a large throttle pedal too :)
