To be honest I didn't spot your car at Easter  I do remember seeing it in August, but I didn't meet you then.

In fact I hadn't really considered a CSL until one of the guys I was with decided he had to have one and I went for a passenger lap in it and I didn't really pay them much attention prior to that. There were at least 3 UK registered silver grey ones at Easter and I was looking out for them mainly in case it was Pete as I was playing with my new camera but not looking out for black ones. I will look through my 1500+ photos to see if I have any of your car.

I might go back to the 'Ring once more this year, probably in August again, so I'll keep my eyes open next time!

When Pete (who is more a friend of a friend that I know only through the 'Ring trip) was looking for a CSL I thought it was a waste of money and he'd be better getting an M3 coupe for a lot less dosh, but as you say the difference is beyond night and day and the CSL is absolutely, utterly awesome to drive.

I loved the SMG 'box pretty much from the moment I got behind the wheel. I don't think I could ever get tired of the blip on every downshift

In spite of preferring black I think I'll look at Colin's car first if he still has it when I sell the 911 as it has lower miles and he's asking a little bit less for it. It's also easier for me to get to see it than Dave's would be. Why is Dave selling his?

Thats cool - I was out on track most of the time anyway (managed >60 laps at easter, just driving on sat+sun really).

Dave was selling his as he wanted cheaper trackday fun, so bought an S1 Exige. He's since decided that really unless someone pays top dollar he wont sell it, as its such a good car.

CSLs shouldn't be a waste of mney - they seem to be holding their value pretty well depreciation wise.

Lots of people at easter seem to have come back deciding they want a CSL now :D - seeing a few posts appear on bm3w...

I don't think the CSL is a waste of money now I've experienced one by any means. The car is far more than the sum of its parts and additionally I think it will probably depreciate less than an M3 cab would; M3s are like arseholes when you start to look for them (everybody has one) but there must be well under 400 CSLs left by now.

I do want to drive an SMG cab before I rule them out completely though. If I do buy a CSL then the next time it's sunny when I leave work in the afternoon I'll just have to change up and down the gearbox a lot to console myself with the blip rather than being able to put the roof down.

I just had someone sniffing on the engineless 944 - selling that would be an unexpected bonus - and someone was talking about viewing the 911 over the weekend.

Cheers Ian. I have been around but not posting outside the Armed Assault section for ages. Were you at the 'Ring at Easter as well? I must have missed loads of people. We did have to leave before lunch on Sunday as an excuse for my blindness.
