Hi guys.

I just thought i'd put up a wee thread stating just how happy i am with my new 312mm brakes.

I didn;t do much reading about the upgrade, other than to know that they would fit.

So... bought the stuff, started with a couple of mates at 8pm this evening and the whole setup incudng changing fluid etc took a grand total of about 40min, totally hassle free.

Pedal feels great, i just can;t wait for them to bed in a little so i can start giving them full beans. Only issue i can foresee is that i'm gonna go through tyres even quicker than i am already which is never good.

Cheers :D :D

What car did you upgrade the brakes on?

Sorry, i should really get a sig in there sometime!!

It's a remapped ibiza Tdi 130. I was a bit sceptical that it was running a fair bit of extra power with the standard brakes, i'm just hoping these big things will fade less than the standard ones!

I was very impressed with the 312mm front brakes when they were on my Octavia vRS, so they should be great on a wee ibiza!

yep they are a great upgrade :D, i used to beable to make the rear tyres leave nice black lines on the road when i slammed my breaks on in my old ibiza ;)

was when the back was empty though with no back seats

as when stamping on the brakes, they worked so well, all the weight would transfer to the front of the car, leaving no weightover the rear axle, enabling them to lock up ;)

Well, they certainly work............ i'm still bedding them in a little but done about 200miles today and similar to TripleD, managed to leave 2 black lines at about 70mph. nothing scary, i was just seeing what they could do.

They are very progressive though and just effortlessly slow the car down.

Happy times. I would recommend these to everyone with a mk4 ibiza!

How much does it cost? Might find out tomorrow that my car needs some new brake discs and calipers so might be worthwhile to get some of these stuck on.

You can buy the hubs but will work out alot more £££

The upgrade itself will be £200 for the discs, pads calipers and carriers

are the 1.4 DAB breaks any bigger than like the sports? as 20 bhp might need bigger breaks or is this were the back disk comes in? as i would love to put rear disks on and make my breaks bigger... umm :p

I think they are the same size not 100%. DAB's only have an extra 15hp though. Will ask my dealer when I get my car back as I might trade mine in for a DAB

To put discs on the back you will pretty much need a new rear axle, not worth it im afraid matey

erm, no

stub axles, bearings, discs, callipers, pads, brake lines, hand brake cables

infact, everything but the rear axle

still not worth doing on the 1.4, you'll be over braked at the rear, the ABS will just be on the whole time.
