well im guessing that u have your lights turned on? and opened the door? that should make the buzzer go off...

with the key out the ignition ?

try it with the passenger door

does the interior light work ok ?

and make sure the indicators are not on too

When you take the key out the ignition with the doors closed, does the interior ligh illuminate?

Flapper - when i leave the parking light on, via indicator stalk, my lights on buzzer still sounds - going by your reply it sounds like yours dont?

Cheers

I would suggest you get it looked at as it will also mean your alarm won't work either by opening the door. not ideal. Easiest way to check is either use Vag com you can live check the door triggers. or sit in car take key out of ignitionso light comes on, then wait 20-30 secs for this to go out, then open drivers door and it should turn light on again, if not its busted, and as others say it is in the catch. Not exepnsive as its a common problem on all Vag car as most use the same catch. Usually drivers door that goes first too. my mates old golf did this, his was worse though as would keep beeping saying drivers door still open whilst driving along. Pretty sure it was about 55 quid to source parts for his golf.
