The big question is - 100PS Sport or 130PS FR?

I've currently got a TDi Sport (130 PS) and I've done just over 100,000 miles in just under 4 years. As a result I still owe money on my current finance deal and I doubt my car in its current condition will cover that amount. That's the main reason I'm considering the Sport rather than the FR, to get my costs down a bit.
What I'm worried about though is the loss of features and power with the Sport model. I really wanted cruise control as an option but that's not available on the Sport, I would also lose Climate Control, not to mention the power loss of course.
On the upside I may increase mpg slightly, insurance is around £130 cheaper a year and its about £2500 cheaper in the first place.

Has anyone had both cars and could tell me whether I would feel much power difference between the two and what other differences I would benefit from/miss out on.

Cheers

You can get Cruise Control fitted after market using genuine VW/SEAT bits for less than £300.

If you get a Sport get it with the option pack which gives you alarm, mp3 player, steering controls, rain sensor, tinting RVM etc which are on the FR.

My MPG is around 50 to 60 per tankful since I've had the Sport (12k miles in 5 months).

HTH :D.

Keep with the 130bhp it feels so much stronger than the 100bhp, YOU wont be happy with it, I've got a 100bhp had an fr as a loan car and now i'm looking for an FR lol.

Have to agree, I have driven a Fabia vRS and it is noticeable how much more grunt the 130PD engine has compared to the 100. If you've been used to the 130 it will seem really slow!

I love the 100PD I've got, and won't be looking for anything to replace it for a time due to my age (only 18) but if I could I'd get an FR!

points to consider:
I'm 33, had a cupra and a PD130, getting married in a few months, am I too old for worrying about extra power when I need all the money I can get at the moment :D
It is quite a big difference in price though £10912 compared with £13627, even if I add £270 for the extras pack its still a jump of £2500 at least all for 30bhp really
I'm so undecided its unbelievable

Call me stupid, but why don't you just keep the PD130 you've already got? That's gotta be the cheapest option by far! ;o)

I'm knocking on 160,000 miles in mine...

You beat me to it, i was gonna ask that.

If as you say money is all important i would honestly say keep te sport. Yes you may need to pay a little cahs out on service etc, but there honestly is not that much than go wrong and cost a fortune. 100k on a tdi engine is nothing. my mates Audi A3 tdi has covered 223000 miles now and unless he told you the milage you would never know, it pulls nice and still returns the economy.

100k is also the age where you need to spend a little cash out, but after you have you will get another 50-70k before anything else pops up.

Also i am pretty sure the 130 sport has better fuel economy than the newer 130 tdi FR as the FR has slightly shorter ratios.

KEEP THE 130 Sport

If you fancy travelling to find an Arnold Clark garage then you could pay a lot less:

http://www.arnoldclark.com/detail.html?ac_reg=blk_q0l3lz4xcqxmqbfo&$ac_branch=&$ac_min=10000&$ac_variant=&$ac_trans=&$ac_type=&$ac_model=Ibiza&$ac_doors=&$ac_body=&$ac_max=&$ac_year=&$ac_cc=&$ac_color=&$ac_fuel=&$ac_miles=&$get_results=View%202%20Cars&$ac_make=Seat&$ac_sr=0&$ac_pp=10

I paid £11488 for my Ibiza FR TDI with metallic paint and lux pack. I must admit the colour choice was limited but I'm more than happy with the Luna. Arnold get a slagging on here but it's mostly from after sales service, I've never had a problem. When saving this much cash I think its well worth it! My car was supposed to be pre reg however it was unregistered when I ordered it so went straight into my name and was registered the day before I picked it up.

I think the closest dealer to you is in Liverpool but it could be well worthn the journey - an FR for the price of a sport! Surely must be worth a phone call!

Go for the FR!

Cheers.

EDIT: cant get link to work, go to www.ArnoldClark.com and search in new cars!
