some people say that the revs need to be at peak for you to get best mpg.

i dont belive that at all! the best way to get better mpg is to keep the revs
down... iv tryed ways on geting the best mpg and lower revs say 1.5-1.7k
is easy the best way.

i find my mpg about 41/42 during the week but then i only have a 4 mile round trip to work
i like to stretch the legs on the derv at the weekends and find that the mpg sits at about 48. if i didnt rev right up to the speed limit im sure id get alot more mpg...

Update

I drove around 150 miles on the motorway today at 80 and I got around 40mpg. I also kept the revs down when changing gear. As Far as i remember i have never seen above 400 miles to a tank!

id have expected higher 40's mpg cruising at around 2250-2500 rpms. ive never got above 400mpg for a tank too.... maybe if i had a pd100/130 then yes

is it really cool to be doing more than 80mph anyways? country roads then yes but motorways you destined to be pulled by an evo or scooby :cop:

My poor car barely wakes up in the mornings with a 1.4 mile trip to work. :( But then I am usually driving around during the day anyway.

I did a 200 mile trip from Southampton to Chesterfield in my Diesel FR and the computer said I'd got 78.5 mpg the fuel gage only went down by a quarter! However it did take me 3 1/2 hours sticking to 60 religiously all the way with no hold ups.

Sadly No I was visiting some friends in Southampton, but you'll all be pleased to know that an unmapped 130PD is quicker than my mates mapped VX220 up hills!:D

You would never get pulled over on the motorway for doing 80, unless you were driving like an idiot.
