Hi All,

I have had my Ibiza FR tdi for 6 weeks now and over the weeks i have put a pd160 air intake and green cotton air filter on the car but i also did alot of customisation which i found out at Jabba on wednesday REALLY helped my car was dyno'd at 145bhp before the re-map and the guy there said that was the most he has ever seen from just an air intake so i thought i would share it with everyone basicly what i did was underneath where the connecter meets the intake pipe i melted some plastic on there to cover the gap at the botom and i got some ducting from JCB now instead of getting the air coming up by the radiator it now comes from the bottom of the bumper i also smoothened the airbox and when i was looking at the air intake i realised there was loads of plastic blocking the air from going straight through so that has all been cut off with a dremel. Th car has now been re-mapped to 176bhp and 314lft/pd of torque i was very impressed with the service from jabba nothing was ever to much trouble if i had to say one bad thing it would be its a shame the figures they got wern't the same as they quote on the internet the figure i got was more like the generic map but still he did say its prob because the car is still being worn in. Unfortunatly my mate that came with me who has a pd150 golf gti which they got to 183bhp didnt have such a good experience his turbo blew up about 25miles down the road:doh:

Just thought i would share that as if anyon wants to do a good job on an air intake and get the most from it.

not bad tbh!!!!
impressive torque figure!

is this the plastic mesh that surrounds the sensor next to the airbox?
as said, pics would be good as i'd be interested in greater air flow?

.............. instead of getting the air coming up by the radiator it now comes from the bottom of the bumper ........

a guy at work had a similar setup on his car, went through a very deep puddle during the winter, engine sucked up a few gallons of water and :censored: up his engine!
on reflection he said it didn't turn out to be the best mod he'd ever done!

bet your mate isn't as pleased!

does give him a very good excuse to go hybrid though! ;)

Hi Mate,

Will get the pics up for you later.

The ducting doesn seal straight onto the pipe so i dont think i will have a problem it just stops the air intake just getting warm air from by the radiator, my bro has a carbonio on his mk4 golf and he hasnt had any probs yet and on that the air filer is in the bumper.

Yea my poor old mate Charles but yea he is using it as an excuse for a bigger turbo which will be fun for him.

Thanks all

p.s Best thing of all my bro has a 180 golf mk4 aniversary and he is running about 200bhp booked in for his re-map on may 21st but at the moment i can beat him where as before he map the used to kill me hahaha

As said above, I'd be concerned about hitting a deep puddle or a flooded lane with the intake that low down. Engine's don't much like trying to compress a cylinder full of water! :(

I love the smell of burning clutch in the morning....

I'd definately have a look at the possibility of the intake sucking up water, alongside small animals. could lead to mucho problemos, when you drive through a puddle avoiding a stray milkfloat...
