OK, here is my situation. I'm gonna have to get some new tyres soon for the car, so the old ones are going to be coming off. So I thought if I'm ever to do anything with the wheels, now is the time. Basically I love the white alloys, but they have a bit of curbing, a LOT of hairline scratches that show up like fook on white alloys, quite a bit of baked on brake dust and then there is the last and probably biggest problem with them............and that is keeping them clean. Basically I wash the car every single weekend, so its pretty much spotless most of the time, but the wheels take about an hour to do properly. Which isn't much of a problem, BUT they only stay clean when i don't drive the car. If I do any more then 15miles in the car after I have cleaned the alloys, they are dirty again  And I hate having dirty wheels. Anyways here are my options:

Keep it as it is, or possibly get them refurbed in white again:

Get them refurbed in arctic gray (not gloss black as that's too dark)

Oh, and this is something I made when I was photoshopping away.........Jap style  But not really an option, lol:

mig the white will always look so right on the valver, cos its a standard look.
but i have to admit that the grey with red pin stripe does look good, matches the red gti badge and red lights and red reflective boot strip :)

Keep them white

Totally agree keep them white, other wise they look like those really naff black wheel trims you get from Halford`s that you see on 1.2 clio`s when they are trying to make them sporty......... NOT!!!! and you don`t want to be doing that do you......... you will only regert it

i like black but i have matt black wheels but they are not multispoke. black multispokes would look cool and quite individual for that style of wheel and i think on a black car would look like a stealth bomber!!

go for matt finish tho cos i think the black gloss finish looks well tacky and loads of chavs have them shiny black ones with a polished silver rim!

oh n even when my wheels are dirty they dont look it ;)

Well I do protect the wheel. I mean if I run my finger on a dirty part of the alloy, the dirt just glides off :), but it doesn't stop me having to wash the whole wheel again

The only thing ill say about black wheels is if you curb them (even slightly) it stands out, as i found out the hard way.

Have you got any photos of your car with black wheels on??

p.s. black permanent marker on black wheels, nail varnish on silver and tippex on white

white all the way but i hated cleaning mine - my keskins are soooooo easy to clean (and yes i am rubbing it in lol)

the is a blue mk2 8v on autotrader with white wheels but 5 spokes - so possibly much easier to clean - im not loving them but maybe you could look at alternatives...? then whack the standards back on if u come to part with the car?

A different set of alloys isn't an option as I don't have enough money. Thats why I'm just wanting to do something with my current ones.

I'm posting from work lol and my work colleague says he prefers the black if he had to choose, but on the other hand i like the white it catches the eye more. Do you have a rough price on how much it will cost you as i may think of doing this in the future to mine?

Well depends what type of finish you want, if you want the diamond cut, if they are getting delivered and also if the tyres are getting removed and refitted. But its usually around the £50 per wheel mark
