Scratched LCR

Bad news folks,
Last night my pride and joy was attacked by a key! It was parked up outside a friends house in Coventry. Luckly they only did the passenger rear door and quarter panel,at the end of the day it could have been worse.
I have tried polishing it out but sadly the scratch is way to deep. Does anybody know anyone who is capable of repairing keyed panels?

Gutted chap, where abouts in coventry was it? i hear that autohause ( a porsche company in coventry) have just got a new spray shop aswell now, maybe worth giving them a call tomorrow to get a quote?

I have used them loads to service my ibiza, and i must say they are very very good, and have great customer services

Really sorry to hear this mate. I had the same happen on my previous car and it's not a nice feeling! Some little gits out there need a taste of their own medicine!

You've got two real options for repairing this though. You can get one of the various mobile companies out and they will do a localised repair of the scratches. Or, you can take it to a bodyshop and they will respray the entire panel.

The proper way to do things would be take it to the bodyshop for the entire panels to be resprayed. This ensures everything blends nicely and you don't see any sign of the panel being repaired. The downside is it costs a heck of a lot more than a mobile place. The mobile places can still do a damn good job mind you... I went down this route myself and was very impressed.

sorry to hear about this mate!!! i had it done to my last car but they did from front to back so think yourself lucky!!!! i had to send mine into the bodyshop to do the whole side but i had skirts n spoiler fitted at same time!!!!

if its just a small amount i think id opt for the mobile - its way cheaper!!!!

I got a knock on my door last night from my neighbour. He said, mate there is a problem with your car, my heart sank, my lc was parked up and a foot away was a car. I walked out to find a kids bike jammed between the two drivers sides. There was a young girl in tears, couldnt bring myself to shout at anyone because she was so upset. Both my doors are scratched, tried the old t-cut, but no joy. Her dad is coming to see it today, but i think its gone down to the primer, its a creamy colour. Was looking at mobile repair companies, because i heard some are really good?? Any thoughts would be great???

Depending on the size and location of the scratches, a mobile place might be ideal. They can perform localise repairs to a very high standard these days and often cost a lot less than a body shop, who will want to spray the entire panel(s).

If the Dad has been cool about it, I'd not want to shaft him personally. Kids are just kids and accidents happen

Talking about people damaging cars, i've experienced it twice now whilst my car has been parked outside my house. The first was one of the neighbours kids hitting the drivers side front wing putting one big and several small dents in it, I couldn't prove that it. I'm waiting to get this sorted still but a few weeks ago my folks come back from shopping after i'd been back from work for about 2 hours and when unloading their car they noticed I had a large scratch to my front bumper. It looks like the person who had parked in next to mine hit it, probally with an exposed tow hook and took the paint off, also the drivers side front headlight has a bit of play in it now. I checked the security tape at work an no one hit the car there, and it just frustrating that your pride and joy gets essentially vandalised by people.

things like this annoy me so bad as it happened to both cars i ever owned! Chips Away do scratch repair, may be worth giving them a call.

I used Chips Away to get some scratches patched up on my Black LCR. Did an excellent job but not as cheap as you would think.

I used a company called Revive when my previous car was scratched, and they charged around £140. The scratch was about a foot long and down to the metal and they did a very good job.

Mines about a foot long on both sides, so do you think that will be about £140 each side?
