Jon how much was your brake upgrade?

Im still thinking of painting my calipers yellow. Was talking to my mate last night though and he said it would look rubbish and beter to leave them as they are
Whole brake upgrade cost me £350. Reason why it cost that much was that I cherry picked the parts. You could go for standard Audi TT/S3 discs for 30-40 quid a pop and good pads for like 70 quid and you instantly saved yourself around £110 quid. The result would still be quite good aswell.

As for painting the calipers they do look good if they are. Just make sure that you do give them 3-4 coats to get that nice shiny look. I am going to do mine when all my other mods are in place.

II used red exhaust manifold paint cleaned the calipes off let them dry and applied 2 coats.... they have been done about 1 year now and still look good... just give them a wash over with soapy water and rinse with hose they come up really good...cost me about 6 pounds for the paint and about 3 hours

I used Hammerite Red Smooth. Was easy enough, but hard to get the calipers perfectly clean and also could have done with a smaller brush than the 1/2" one I used.
Did 2 coats with about 1 hour between coats. They didnt look like they needed a 3rd.

i had a go at painting mine over the weekend, i was unsure of which bits to paint.... theres a metal tie over the callipers, can I paint this.... If i can't. then it makes some bits hard to do.

also, used engine lacquer for this, but it looks a bit pink / red and not a bright red gloss finish, so just bought some red hammerite, will maybe do next saturday...

advice on the metal tie pins thing would be appreciated.

Think you can see frommy first pic that i painted over the metal holding pin where its attached to the calipers and left the middle bit unpainted so its pretty un-noticable and looks fine.
The Hammerite leaves a lovely finish, very smooth and looks like it will be easy to keep clean.

Cheers..... Splitter already fitted as its the FR+ with the Cupra-R bumpers/wheels.
Theres a guide on Pabs site on fitting it to a standard FR/Cupra bumper, dont think its too hard to fit either.

Can't believe that i almost bought a new kit from Foliatec for £20!!!!!!!! i did get hold of a part used kit but the paint was gone hard. I need to do my bike caliper first then i will do the car. I am going for dark blue on an imperial blue leon. Want to keep it looking classy.
Do those ebay decals stay on, or do they need laquering over the top?

Lots of people paint over the metal clip, and it doesn't do any harm. I for one decided to remove the clip (i just pulls off with a pair of pliers) before painting the calipers. I prefer the look of the painted calipers with the silver clip (looks more like the real deal that way IMO) - you can also polish up the clips with a bit of Autosol while you're at it, to make them look really good ;)

Be warned however - getting the clips back on once you've painted everything can be an absolute nightmare. I ended up using the tried and tested 'hit it with a hammer' method, which unfortunately ended up chipping the newly painted calipers to buggery. That said, I just touched in the chipped bits once the clip was back on, and it looks mint now!

Also for whoever it was that asked about where I got the decals from, it was trusty fleabay. Just do a search for 'seat caliper decals' or something along those lines. Mine haven't shown any sign of coming off yet, although I applied them while the paint was slightly tacky, which I'm hoping will aid their staying power. That said, whilst I'm not sure whether a coat of lacquer over the top is actually necessary, I'm sure it wouldn't do any harm.

Speaking of painting. The lacquer on my brembos is getting a bit shite. Will the brembo decals available off egay and the like be ok, and what size should I be looking for?
