I reckon the standard system in my ibiza is pap so it needs changing A.S.A.P.

However I know nothing about ICE.

I have friends who have stuck subs in their care but the bass tottally overpowers the rest of the system. I dont want that I want nice crisp sound, with the possibility of maybe turning the sub off or up if I decide I want to make some house windows shake lol.

So what will I need. I have been looking at headunits and most of them are say 4x50 watts. Is that good? Doesnt sound all that much to me. Then theres pre-outs, do I need one or two of those?

Whats size are the speakers in the ibiza? What about my tweeters (are they even tweeters?)

Any help appreciated, looking to spend no more than £500 on a full system really. Hope someone can point me in the right direction as to what I will need.

Thanks :D

ok...not that i know too much about ice too but here goes:

4X50 watts will run your normal speakers ok, however with volume the sound quality will go down!

The headunit will be able to trun up and down the bass to whatever you want! the pre-outs are for amplifiers (i think) so if you want a sub you will need one...if you want an amp to power your speakers you will need two or more!

You will need components, i think the speakers are 16.5cm and then you have tweeters in the door bit near the wing mirror!

ok thanks.

What the advantage of having all the speakers run off a amp instead of the head unit?

cheers:)

yeah basically 4X50 is the maximum power obtainable from the headunit...the average speakers have a peak power of 150watts or more. heres an example: alpine speakers ! so therefore running from your headunit you will only get say 1/3 of the peak performace of the speakers! amping the speakers you can get for example: Fli amplifier that will produce 200watts max per channel! hope this helps

Thanks for explaining.

So would I need two amps to power the speakers and sub, or is there one amp that can do both?
