cocksucker:lol: Are you 17

Sorry mate, but if you cant take care of a family hatchback maintenance wise, how on earth are you going to take care of an evo 7  Servicing every 4500 miles:happy:

Flatbed, countryside, petrol, match, police, insurance;)

Oops did i say that out loud:doh:

Only kidding, a set of valves shouldn't cost that much tbh unless you've damaged pistons also.

I would have thought you would have been able to get it done for sub 1k including valves and labour charges.

Are you 100% certain insurance doesn't cover this sort of thing?

Flatbed, countryside, petrol, match, police, insurance, forum, investigation, court, prison, dropped soap, sore botty...........

I'd be surprised to get in at less than £1500 if you shopped around.

Insurance

Yes they do mate...Evo's are very expensive to run, I should know as 3 of my friends have them (2 x VII GSRs 1x FQ330)

Great carsand very fast but also extremely expensive!

How old are you btw?

You'll be looking at getting 200 - 250miles max per tax of V-Power (has to be run on super)...

service every 4500miles...

It'll go through tyres (wear all 4) quicker than an LCR and the Brembo's are just as expensive...

Insurance will also be a fair bit more than an LCR...

They are reliable but it all depends on how they have been treated. Clutches and gearbox's can be costly to replace and depending on how the car is driven won't last too long...

If I bought an Evo it would be used as a second car...

buy a second hand replacment head and valves, itll not cost 1500-2000 to fit it at a backstreet garage, more like 200-500 depending on what they want to charge.

if the leon had fsh the dealer should have picked up on the cam belt as its to be checked on each service for its condition ,but that said i would have changed it by now anyway.. dont no why the dealers have diesels at 60k and petrols at 120 k on the belt changes???

Yes they do....

Have a look 1/2 way down, where it says ''SERVICE SCHEDULE AND WARRANTY''

http://www.carpages.co.uk/guide/mitsubishi/mitsubishi-lancer-evolution-fq-320.asp

Do you know something i dont?

Running costs is more than just petrol.....

I had an impreza before my LCR and had that serviced every 6000miles, evos are worse off at 4500 mile intervals. Petrol wise, i was getting 240miles out of 60 litre fuel tank. That soon gets very annoying. Evo is very similar (Av 18mpg)

Tax on Evo im sure is now in the 225+ bracket meaning the new budget has pushed them into the £400 yearly tax bracket or £210 6 months:blink:

Insurance quite a bit more.

As has already been said pads/discs/tyres come along more frequently also as you've got 4 running down at near equal rates. Evos have diff servicing which is costly, and then you've got oil changes/spark plugs and all the other usual bits.
I remember reading a thread on scoobynet a while back, where this guy bought a brand new Sti spec C and took it to santapod. It had done less than 1000 miles and after 3 full blown launches, on his 4th attempt, the clutch was knackered. Had to be replaced at about £1000.

Your in for a huge shock;)

My dealer told me that the timing belt interval had been revised down to sooner of 4 years or 40k miles. I got mine down at my local garage for £150. I disputed this with them at the time saying I think it was too short but they swore blind that was the interval.

Just not worth the risk when you hear nightmare stories like that so I got it done locally as dealer wanted £320.
