Leon cupra vs clio 182?

I would have though the clio due to lower weight. The LC may be better up at the top end though.

Clio 182 are around 17.5sec 0-100 so not too shabby at all.

You'll get beaten by a 182 mate...

I own an LCR and I only pull against my best mates 172 FF after 80+. 0-60 those clios are very fast and well planted off the line!

If you revo your LC you'll probably pull on him after 80+ but 0-60 expect him to be up your backside lol!

The big difference is that you won't need to rag your car to go fast and the power will always be there!

I went up against one in a quarter mile at french car show in my leon, beat it.....only jus! i was very suprised at how quick they are!

But all in all I think you've made a good decision to get the leon, I know too many ppl who have rolled clios in even the most minor of accidents.

Even tho saying that my first leon ended up on its roof! was so glad to have a bigger and safer car tho..prob saved my life.

Me and 2 off my mates just all went out and bought hot hatches, 182 clio, civic type r, beat the civic till 3rd then he comes huntin passes me and sits there till 135 then i just stard to creep by, the clios fast, not as fast as the civic tho, beat him all the way, just tho till 100, after that its bye bye clio!

NOTE: ALL THESE TRIALS WERE DONE ON PRIVATE PROVING GROUNDS

thats suprising as when I had my clio 172, I was equal speed wise with a cupra and he started to edge on me after 90+ (on a test track of course) I then had a race with a cupra r and that beat me quite easily

Hi Mate,

I'd say if both were standard the Clio would pip it. My mates has a 182 cup and its pretty much as quick as my Cupra R 225 (Power to weight ratio on them is pretty good). Thats why i'm getting a remap!!! :D

But................the Cupra will be a 'all round better car' with respect to build quality and power delivery (for driveability). Don't get me wrong the 182 is a beastly little car but in the long run you can enjoy & mod the Cupra much easier and cheaper for £ per BHP/Torque gain.

Don't think you will be dissapointed with your choice.

Cheers

Evo magazine reckon 7.7 for the Leon and 6.6 for the normal 182 in the 0-60 dash.
Having played with both a Clio 182 and my friends Leon Cupra R (210 model) in my remapped Ibiza Cupra on a private road I'd say the Clio would beat a 180bhp Leon no problems.

I put in a 15.2 @ 98.5mph at Santa Pod (not my fastest time but closest to 100), so a remapped LC should be easily ahead 0-100 in a straight line.

You'll get destroyed around the twisties though, mine handles like a boat.

Yeah, a remapped LC will be too much for a clio 172/182 i agree.

An LCR and clio 172cup/182 have very similar 0-100 times making them appear very similar in respects to straight line performance. They're both around 17-17.5secs for comparisons. upto 100mph, then yes i suppose they are very similar:)

However the cliosports weakness is the LCR's strong point:)

100+ performance in LCR is very good:)
100+ performance in cliosport is dissapointing.

But to be fair, you shouldn't be doing 100+ on british roads so above info is irrelevant really.

Wouldn't like to follow a cliosport being driven well along some country roads:headhurt:
