Thought I would change my spark plugs today along with coil packs only I could not work out why I could not get my socket to fit one of the plugs... Well I find out who ever replaced them before dropped the rubber out of the socket they used to replace them!!

Ive no idea how I can get it out, Tried using a hoover but the rubber is to tight around the plug.. Any ideas? Anyone done the same lol? :(

find an old socket around about the same width as the rubber piece, put some superglue on the end and glue it to the rubber, then pull out.

(I accept no responsibility for sockets glued to engine heads)

thats what i was going to suggest (well something similar anyway)

just put some superglue round the inside of an old socket and get it around the rubber. Stick it on, wait till the glue sets then pull it out. That way you aren't coating the inside of the head with gluey deposits.

alternativly stick a long thin flat blade screwdriver down the hole into the middle of the rubber, use the side of the head as leveradge and push the flat edge into the rubber, keeping the pressure on, try to slowly pull it out.

I am surprised that you haven't been getting misfires as the plug is effectivly insulated from the coil

if you can't get grip with a screwdriver, try a thin flat file with some tape over one side so you don't starting filing your engine and just see if thats enough to grip the rubber and pull it out.

sorry i forgot, never realised i'd posted that i got this rubber bung out..

took me a while to get at it, had to use a thin very long screwdriver to break apart the rubber into bits and pull it out.. i was not able to get a socket over the rubber and undo the plug...

so glad ive got it out now tho..
