Thanks for clearing that up for me andyj.

The cheaper options sound much better and I assume the budget discs aren't as good as the Brembo's?

Overall, after a bit of mental arithmetic (sp), £800 per year on wear and tear such as tyres/discs/pads isn't too bad. I am also assuming that the rears (tyres/discs/pads) don't need replacing as often as the fronts?

Cheers - Cobraman

Cheers guys... just got a quote from Greenlight (24, 2yr no claims...) - £777.75 fully comp with £400 excess - seems pretty good :)... they said roughly as well it'd be an extra £45 if REVO'd (going off it jumping to 265bhp - very reasonable I think) :)

Greenlight are offering to cover remaps for free at the moment, so give them a call and mention the fact you have seen that offer on this site and that £45 should disappear.

If in doubt, look in the Insurance forum section at Neil @ Greenlight's post about it :)

I wish Greenlight would insure me (they won’t insure M20 but will insure CW6). I park my car in a secure area in Manchester but because of working in Chester I spend at least 3-4 nights a week at my mums (CW6 – A rated). Insurance companies have always told me that because Manchester is a higher risk area I would need to insure the car for there. I'm not disputing the fact that the car will be parked in Manc (for a couple of nights a week) but I would hope that an insurance company could at least come to some sort of an agreement based on the fact that the car won't always be parked there.

I'm an honest person but I do think that a lot of insurers are just after your money. I know a lot of people in my position would just lie (insure the car at my mums) but I know that this wouldn’t be wise. I'm of the conclusion that honesty gets you know where in life.

I'm paying £1050 (M20, 26 years old, 6 years NCB).

Cheers
Alex

DO IT, I was gonna get an RX8. It undoubtedly looks better than a Cupra R, and is nicer inside, but (using LCR figures on here as a basis) if driving normally drinks the same as a Cupra R when ragged.

Add the fact it's about 3k less for a LCR of similar age/milage and the piss easy tuning options won it for me :)

Yeah a LCR will undoubtedly be more economical than an RX8. The insurance is also cheaper for me and the car will cost less than I was gonna spend on an RX8 so I'll have money to get it REVO'd too :D

Getting the money sorted over the next few days then I'll be out for one! :)

Good stuff :D

Are you buying from a dealer, or are you open to private sales too? There are often some VERY good cars at very good prices in the For Sale forum section here :)

No I won't be buying from a dealer... definitely privately. Yeah I seen quite a few good ones for sale on various places like pistonheads and seen a few of these people are on here. Just a little scared of travelling so far for one when people say they're mint and they're not... I can only ask them so many times via email etc if it's honestly as 'mint' as they say - such a pain in the ass sometimes if the car's not local

I can sympathise with that. That's why I think buying from a forum member is a good idea, as you can look back through their posting history to find out what sort of an owner they are ;) Sneeky, but it's a lot of money to spend.

I think you're more likely to find a dealer who would tell you a car is mint when it's not, as there is 101 things they can do to make an iffy car look mint. But a private buyer has to be a bit more honest as they don't have those options and know full well nobody will buy it if they are caught lying.

It's worth travelling for the right car though. You only have to do it once remember :)
