A pheasant suprise

On my way to work yesterday, 1 of 4 pheasants decided to play chicken with my FR. I looked in my rear view mirror to see a cloud of feathers and thought nothing more of it.

Got home last night, girlfriend says 'your number plate is hanging off'.

It was. Looked through the honeycomb mesh below the number plate and there was Mrs pheasant!!

It had gone through the mesh which had then gone back to its original position.

So I had the bad luck to have to cut a big hole in the mesh to get at the bird.

The big suprise was when it turned out to be alive and well!!

Took it to a friends farm and it flew off like a rocket.

Forgot to get its details for the claim!!

So I'm forking out for a new number plate and the mesh grill and fitting.

yes it is very lucky to alive. I have hit one previously but luckily my wheel hit it so no damage to the car, ok lucky for me but not the bird.

I dont know whats up with those stupid birds, I almost hit 2 on the way home from work last night and this morning at least 4 decided to play chicken with me, luckily I was prepared this time, with my foot firmly on the brakes but was still a close call.

I had a crazy squirrel come flying at me when I was on the motorway, luckily no damage to the car (think it hit the wheel). Must of been a fox or something after him.

I saw a crazy squirrel chasing a guy on a pushbike down the road the other week, they are absolutly raving bonkers, the red ones must be even worse as there seems to be less of them around.

Had exactly the same thing happen the day I picked up my new FR.

Travelling along a woodland road at about 60 mph and hit a pheasant that came straight out in front of me.....couldn't see much in the rearview mirror except a few feathers and continued on.

When I eventually got out to check for damage, there was a hole punched through one end of the grill and the pheasant lying bereft of life at the other end.

Car's in the garage today for the fitting of a new grill..........apparently it requires removal of the bumper and a bill of £193.16.

Good job it wasn't an ostrich #;o}

ouch, and bylaws say that the person that runs over a pheasant is not allowed to eat it, if you found it dead in the road you could pick it up and eat.

I very luckily avoided a badger in my car last week--have you ever seen the size of those things --Anyway it would have been a new bumper/grille if I had caught him/her!!

I hit one a few years ago in a MK2 fiesta, made a huge dent.

I got quoted £193.16, but ended up being charged for approx £77......not sure why.

One night on the way home from work I ran over a already hit badger (it was already a gonner I could see the entrails), went right under the middle of the car, I thought I was lucky, what I didn't know was most of its indsides had stuck to the hot exhaust system.
If Iever smell cooked badger meat again I swear I'll be blowing chunks. I tried to jet spray it off when I got home but got hit by the backspray, straight into my face!
After that I couldn't stop in traffic without setting the air con to recycle as it would suck in cooked badger smell, I had to hold my breath before I could get out of the car and had to run into the house to avoid it.
My neighbour said his cat was under my car a day or so later apparently eating something from the underside.... solution, if get a badger stuck under your car, get a cat.
