Can anyone tell me the difference between a Dension ICE>Link v2.02 and v2.01 ? Is it just firmware or is there hardware differences as well?

Part number will depend on the actuall type you go for.. active cradle or dock cable etc

The cradle one is..
ILVG1234UK

Best thing to do is search for "Vag 12 Pin" and you will find all sorts of places such as amazon selling them

In my LeonFR 2.0 TDI
it is supprisingly easy to do, i did it last night, i used some string and fed it around the facia, to make some handles to pull the unit out, was a bit scared of dinging the edges of the facia.,

Hopefully this is the same for your radio too Simon

Ok so Im confused, have the radio currently out. took the quad thingy off. Now your saying that I plug the ice link in the slot on the bottom righ of the above image, where there are only 2 pins slot "D" (TEL AF+ and TEL AF-)? or Slot C?

I think you mean slot C even though you say right. Once I do have it in the right slot how do I activate or access my iPod ie. get it to play something through the head unit?

Also I have one black wire not connected to my white quad plug, is that meant to go somewhere ie earth or power? Here is a pic of what it looks like:

Help! lol

*EDIT*

Ok I have re-read your previos post and you say slot C. I have plugged my ice link into this, switched the radio on, but nothing much happens. How do I get it going or access it? And is that one black cable important? Where should it go?

if your looking from the back it would be the right!!,

im assuming that you have to remove the blue (c) connector from the unit of 4 and replace it with the black icelink one,

have you done that or do you have the icelink straight into the back?

btw to access aux press cd button twice, thats how i access the aux in socket

yeah, my interpretation was that as it acts as a CD changer, then you just access it as if it was a CD changer (except in reality, its just a line-in) :)

OK I got it working by holding this stray/loose black wire (which comes out the back of the ice link but is not attached to the quad plug) to the outside metal casing of the head unit/radio. So I take it this cable needs to be earthed for the whole thing to work?

So is there a pin that I can attach it to, which is the earth? or do I attach it to the casing? Any help please. Other then that the whole thing is working and my steering wheel controls work aswell.

So i just need to know where to attach the black cable. There are two, one is attached to CD earth I take that this one should also be attached there?

Then I have to work out how to get the cable from behind the head unit to some where useful

*EDIT* OK I have shoved the spare black cable in the main head unit earth pin. Which will do for now. Then managed to feed the dock cable through the hole at the far left corner, around and into the glove box without damaging anything. Dock is sitting in the glove box, until I can work out how to undo the central console and run the cble towards the arm rest. Think i will need an extension cable.

Anyone know how to route the cable from the rear of the HU to the cetral lower console where the gear stick is? If I can get to there I will either take it all out and run the cable underneath it. Or tuck it cable under the side flaps next to the carpet. Either way the cable has to be invisable.

i was sat in the passenger seat last night, ripping things out looking for a rattle and i found that the center console is panneled, to the right of my feet, you can easily get your fingers under the panel and pull and it comes off, that should be able to get you upto where the lighter socket is, right under the glovbox side if things it seems very flimsy but its easily strong enough to pull on, im thinking of stuffing a rag under there to see if its that flappy bit thats rattling

Same link as post 22 mate..

http://public.fotki.com/s602/seat-tech-pics/

This pic shows the side panel which jsut pulls off giving access to the centre console and a perfect earth point.. (see comment)
http://public.fotki.com/s602/seat-tech-pics/centrepanel.html

The black lead is an earth and must be earthed for the ice>Link to work, the bolt behind the centre console panel works a treat.

Spot on.. the image is as looking at the terminals as shown
**maybe not see next post**

im assuming that you have to remove the blue (c) connector from the unit of 4 and replace it with the black icelink one,
The blue would only there if you have a multichanger so it should be vacant

I was too afraid of pulling the side panel off last night. That looks like the perfect route though. For now, I have routed the dock cable left up and around into the glove box (which was tricky had to feed it through with a long stiff cable tie - murder on my fingers!). I have a 4m extension cable on order :)

I also updated my Dension unit to firmware v2.17, is that the latest or make much difference?

Thx m8 for all your help and advice. :worship:

XE I can see why you were getting confused about the which terminal is which.

On the image with the terminals and what they do the image on the right showing the multiplug colours is inverted so that it shows which pins correspond with which multiplug at a glance. In reality it is reversed though so the ice link/CDC controller is on the right.

Apologies for the confusion
