did anyone buy an lcr after owning a diesel?

i was basically just wondering if the fuel consumption was a shock compared to a frugal diesel? how much of a difference did there turn out to be etc.

no i didnt but you wont like it,

and anyone who asks a mpg question about the LCR shouldnt even think about buying one,

my golf valver is a shock for petrol, especially if you drive on cam alot, it drinks fuel, and you have to as its the only way to get some performance out of the car....ok ok no one forces me to put my foot down

its like comparing apples and errr varnish with mpg's for an LCR and a TDI, if you are thinking of the petrol costs, then you shouldnt be buying an LCR, or in fact even considering it lol

but then i dont care, i love the sense of having a quick car, no matter what the cost of petrol is

Remap will take it to 190bhp, with mountains of torque.

I still get mid 40's even if I kill it :)

60+ is achievable on a nice run, sticking to the limits

Amen brother. Am I right to think that a remapped TDI150 will be faster than a standard LCR225, due to the torque? I killed one the other day but think that it was the driver more than the car.

I wish! i would think in reality the LCR would still be faster but the TDI shouldnt be far off and if meeting in-gear then the TDI could surprise it.
TBH ive never driven an LCR so im probably talking nonsense!

On the issue of petrol costs, i dont think lexie should be told not to think about buying an LCR if having to ask about fuel costs. its obviously going to be more expensive to run but maybe someone who has went from a TDI to the LCR could answer the question in actual money terms.
My guess is that you will be going from 470+ miles/tank to around 300+.

The remapped TDI will be pretty much even with the LCR. In an out and out drag, the LCR might just creep ahead.... but driver skill is going to play a bigger part in this than the car itself.

If you have a driver in each that knows how to get the best from each car, then the LCR will have a slight, but not massive, advantage. Stick a poor driver in one though, doesn't matter which, and the other will say goodbye!

As for petrol, I average 27MPG and can get just over 300 miles from a full tank. More if I drive like Miss Daisy, less if I drive like my hair is on fire!

I had a nicely modified Fabia vRS, Sold that and went onto an LCR, was dissapointed with the LCR's performance, because it didn't have that torquey... surge, but I knew a remap would change a bit of that.

I went from high 40's MPG, 55+ to a disasterous 30+MPG tops. Could never get over 30+

Stuck in traffic, was enough to see a low 11+MPG

thanks for the responses folks. i'm new to seats so i'm just trying to gather as much info as possible.

i drive a petrol car at the minute (all be it a small one) but i'm in 2 minds about whether to get a fast petrol or fast derv. either way it is going to be bigger and be quicker than a 1.2 corsa.

on the cost of fuel issue petrol onlt costs 69.9pence a litre where i live so it's not really an issue for me even with quite high milage, i was just wondering what peoples reactions were when they saw the difference ;)

i went from an ibiza tdi sport to the lcr. Knew the economy was going to be worse but so much more enjoyable to drive.

I actually drove back from Devon on Sunday at anice steady 65-70 due to my rather bald front tyres......managed 38.5mpg average over 160 miles.

38.5!!!

I spent 2 days doing the speed limits, never using full throttle, and generally driving around as if I was scared of the car... and I still only got 34MPG.

Got bored of that though and got 22MPG this morning :D

Don't get me wrong, i normally only manage 22-25 so this was somewhat of a milestone! Somehow i managed 40mpg out of my old Golf VR6 on a slow run to Birmingham and back.....i must just be talented! :)

No. Anybody who tells you otherwise is dreaming or blinded by bias. Power (bhp) is the product of torque (lbs/ft) x 2pi x revs. Low rev pickup will undoubtedly be quicker in the TDi but by the time the TDi has to change gear, the LCR is just getting into its stride with a further 3000 revs of out and out power to go. When the LCR has to change up it will be right on its power band and the only place he'll see the TDi, remapped or otherwise is in his rear view mirror.

BHP is the only true indicator of peak performance between two cars of similar weight. It takes both torque and revs into account. The argument that a lower powered car with more torque is faster would only be true if both cars had the same rev limit. This couldn't be further from the truth in the case of TDi vs LCR.

Not totally true mate, And I dont want this to become yet another Diesel Vs Pertol thread. There is a massive difference in torque between the cars. Past 60 the diesel would start to fall behind due to as you say a lack of revs, but up to that point the diesel will be right along side it.

The Ibiza Cupra TDI Mapped would leave a LCR, I have witnessed this many times ;) , as a few LCR owners on here can testify!

Its not all about revs mate!

Im sure the Leon TDI cupra/FR remapped would be right along side the LCR till 60 ish
