i was basically just wondering if the fuel consumption was a shock compared to a frugal diesel? how much of a difference did there turn out to be etc.

Amen brother. Am I right to think that a remapped TDI150 will be faster than a standard LCR225, due to the torque? I killed one the other day but think that it was the driver more than the car.

No. Anybody who tells you otherwise is dreaming or blinded by bias. Power (bhp) is the product of torque (lbs/ft) x 2pi x revs. Low rev pickup will undoubtedly be quicker in the TDi but by the time the TDi has to change gear, the LCR is just getting into its stride with a further 3000 revs of out and out power to go. When the LCR has to change up it will be right on its power band and the only place he'll see the TDi, remapped or otherwise is in his rear view mirror.
BHP is the only true indicator of peak performance between two cars of similar weight. It takes both torque and revs into account. The argument that a lower powered car with more torque is faster would only be true if both cars had the same rev limit. This couldn't be further from the truth in the case of TDi vs LCR.
